Walking into Bourbon Street Restaurant in Robertson, the music and friendly service quickly overwhelms you and you forget about the madness of city life. Owners Leon and Lea Ward created a haven in this small town restaurant. Whether sitting outside on the deck or inside with the plush red cushioned chairs, guests feel at home at once.
With the background of opening and running several restaurants both in South Africa and overseas under his belt, Leon is more than qualified to keep Bourbon Street at the top of its game. While Lea, usually found in the kitchen, is a truly extraordinary woman. With no formal training, she learned all she knows from her mother and grandmother. A true Italian American, she is certainly key to the superb food that brings the customers back again and again.
Bourbon Street's menu can be called an eclectic combination from all over the world, ranging from Mexican, American, Italian and most certainly South African. Bourbon Street pride themselves on their exotic carpaccio's such as springbok and ostrich. Spice up your meal with one of their Mexican meals like the Chicken Chimichanga, a flour tortilla filled with spicy chicken and cheddar, deep-fried and topped with our spicy red sauce, sour cream, jalapeño, olive, spring onion and guacamole, served on greens and accompanied by rice.
Everyone has their favourite burger and be sure Bourbon Street will have yours. For a quick lunch why not choose the Balsamic Blue Pasta - Pan-fried sirloin strips in a balsamic reduction, red onion and blue cheese crumbs, finished with fresh rocket, preserved fig and parmesan shavings.
Bourbon Street has something for everyone - Bistro Salad - Smoked chicken, bacon, tempura halloumi, avocado, red onion, beetroot on a bed of greens and finished with tomato, pumpkin seed and our creamy herb dressing; Seared Sesame Tuna - Tuna encrusted in sesame seed, seared and served on rice noodles and accompanied by an Asian sauce; Bourbon Stuffed Steak - 300g Sirloin, stuffed with smoked mussels, cheddar and garlic, finished with cheese and garlic sauce!
Then there are the pizzas, a whole section on its own. Not to forget the specialities like their Sushi, Lamb Pie, Paella and Oxtail. And if you have space after all that, end of your evening with the Choc Chip Mountain, a larger than life choc chip cookie topped with ice cream, chocolate sauce and nuts.
