The samoos are thick, oily and barely has filling absolutely disgusting despute the fact that it does not even look like a samoosa and is one big ball of oily pastry. Burnt naan bread. Chicken madras unapetizing and not worth the price. I dont know how they managed to even serve dry rice

“Indian cuisine well prepared, but needs professional service”
Tranna Silver Lakes in Pretoria East, South Africa, is a well established franchise of Indian cuisine. Food is excellently prepared by well trained chef. Portions are good sized. Prices are good, but one immediately get the idea that management is not as polite and helpful as one would expect from a upper class restaurant.

“not the same as the other branches”
Situated in the Hazeldene Shopping Centre, Tranna’s is one of our favourite Indian franchises in Pretoria and we regularly visit them in Wonderpark and Mall@Reds. Not having visited this branch in a couple of years we decided to have Sunday lunch with them. The restaurant was empty when we arrived and the one gentleman attending the register waited on us. This venue does not serve alcohol; which surprised us as we previously had wine there and their other branches still serve alcohol to our knowledge. We ordered a Beef Breyani and Chicken Reshmi Kebab. The Breyani was pleasantly spiced in typical north Indian style. The chicken, made in the tandoor with ginger, garlic and yoghurt was wonderfully moist, however one had trouble tasting the flavouring. During our stay there were only a couple of customers getting take-aways, and no sit down diners. Although the venue is spotlessly clean, there is no atmosphere and no music being played in the restaurant. For a curry craving we will stick to the other 2 venues.

“Absolutely disgusting”
So Tonight we ordered Tranna take out and we’re rather keen as we had previously eaten really great food from there. We received our delivery of things we had previously ordered from Tranna and upon digging in found that both of our very different dishes tasted like icing sugar, no spice, just milky sugary sauce covering beef and my paneer, we tried to add some of the watered down Raita to it to help but it didn’t, and with two bites we felt so neaseous it had to be deemed inedible. We have tossed it and ordered from another Indian restaurant and now have to eat dinner at 9:30 pm. Not to mention our butter Naan arrived without any sight of having been buttered, dry and sugary to boot. I called to ask if perhaps there had been a mistake, perhaps someone has mistaken the sugar jar for the salt jar, but was told that this is how it is supposed to taste, so that is the end of our ever ordering from them again. This is the first complaint I have ever written or given in person about food, I am tolerant of most culinary mishaps and will eat things that don’t taste great to keep the hassle out of life, but this was truly the worst thing I have ever tasted.

“Best Indian restaurant in the east”
Food id always excellent. It is important to advise the waiter of your heat preference of the food. Butter naan, breyani and lamb vindaloo is always a hit with my family.

“Good and not so good”
We had supper at Tranna recently. The food was average and not that hot, so a bit disappointing. In the past we have had great take aways from here and did rate it as some of the best Indian food we have experience. However the dining in option was not great. Not been back since.

“That is not a samoosa!!!!”
Worst "samoosa"ive ever had. Firstly that is not what a samoosa looks like, the pastry was as thick as pie pastry. The filling tasted like a mixture of soy and cereal. The chicken tandoori is ok though and reasonably priced. Try the butternaan, its good.

“Below Average”
I have been to Tranna on two different occasions and each time I have had below average Indian food. The curries don't have great depths of flavour could be classed as a simple curry that has come out of a jar- the aloo parotas very also not the best - inconsistent thickness and the filling was bland.

“Great Food!”
I absolutely love the food at Tranna! We usually order and pick up now - about 15 minutes from telephonic order to pick up. Its been a long while since we had dinner there so I can not comment on the service at the restaurant itself. But the food has remained the same: awesome. My husband started out as apprehensive about Indian food after a really bad first experience in his youth- his mouth was on fire / went home hungry. He has no hesitation in getting a 'take-away' meal from Tranna. He loves the spicy but mild curries at Trana but will usually order the chicken korma. He claims to love Indian food now but more specifically he loves the food from Tranna. They have a really good selection of vegetarian options: try the paneer matar or dhal makhnie. We usually order single a garlic naan and vegetable samoosas to share - along with our curry options. The portions are large - so although we have a good dinner - there is usually enough to make a great second round at breakfast the next day. Food is tasty, spicy and awesomely yummy.

Absolutely terrible l asked for a hot lamb korma it was just sweet and the rice wasn't cooked properly, R156 well over priced. Will never go back
We find that the food has become very sweet. Less spicy and too much sugar. Not the Indian food it used to be. Been eating the there for many years. Maybe time to go back to the original recipes
