While the menu, website and setting promised an unforgettable culinary experience, the service and food were mediocre at best - just enough to get away with the prices. It wasn't terrible, but neither were there any "oohs" or "aaahs" from our table.My slow cooked pork belly was pretty tough and stringy and while the crackling was fantastic, the meat itself didn't have that juicy, fall-apart deliciousness one hopes to get from pork belly. If I'm honest, it was pretty dry and bland. The carrot puree was lumpy and topped with baby carrots - both the puree and carrots were ice cold - no heated plates here.All in all - meh, at R190.My dessert was the deconstructed lemon meringue pie - another disappointment. The "burnt meringue" made me think I was going to get actual French meringue crisped on the outside and soft and gooey on the inside, but alas, it was a few small hard meringues (the kind you can buy at the Spar for R22.95 for a pack of 12). The lemon curd part was indescribably sweet blobs around a mountain of biscuit crumb.The other 5 people at the table all had similar feedback about their food. "It was ok". I think they were being polite.The waitress seemed actively disinterested in us. You could almost see her shrugging her shoulders when she had to do something. There were no major issues and we are friendly people who keep smiling and thanking and so on, but she didn't seem to feel like it that day.When the fire was made with what looked like a bottle of petrol and smoke engulfed the place, the doors were opened, which let in an arctic cold. Once the smoke had dissipated, we politely asked if the doors could be closed as we were all really cold. The first time she said no, because the smoke needed to clear. The second time she said yes, but didn't close the doors, and the third time she point blank ignored us. Eventually, a customer from another table closed the door. Perhaps we should've given her the R250 tip.In summation, the wine was nice, the food was mediocre, the service was lacklustre. I wouldn't hurry back, as there are hundreds of other establishments to try that just may be better.

We accompanied friends for lunch (who had celebrated their anniversary at the venue a year before.) Two of us ordered the pork spring roll which was recommended by the waiter. When it arrived the smell and a brief taste indicated it was “off” and it was returned. The kitchen reported back that the sauce in the dish had likely split. It was clear to our party that the food was actually off! Appetites jaded, 2 of us did not order a replacement or main course and settled for a dessert which we felt would be a safer option. We requested that besides removing the 2 starter dishes from the bill, we at least receive some complimentary offer from management as a token apology for food that could have resulted in a health issue. Even complimentary coffees would have been acceptable. We received a reply from the General Manager Lisa, via our waiter, informing us that times were too tough for the restaurant to offer such gratuities. We were shocked and approached her to confirm her statement which she duly did. The unapologetic and indifferent attitude that we encountered from Lisa, deepened our disappointment. After expressing our dissatisfaction with the situation, the GM grudgingly deducted the cost of two desserts off the bill. It seems that the satisfaction and well being of customers are less important to this establishment than maximizing the bill.

Visited this exquisite establishment for afternoon Wine & Cheese. Wow, from the moment that we were welcomed by the friendly Manager: Natasha and served by Waiter: Innocent, we knew we came to the best restaurant in Durbanville - The service throughout was outstanding - Food portions was above reasonable - presentation was above average and the decor and surroundings a welcome experience - would truly recommend this restaurant for all meals.

In the heat of lockdown level one I randomly entered a Facebook competition where a Cassia meal voucher and a box of Nitida mixed wines were at stake. I won and we saved the voucher to use it on my husband's birthday this Saturday past. Absolutely deligthful - from the setting, the service right through to the 'happy birthday' dessert. Well done staff at Cassia! We were able to (for once) splash out a little and decided to have starter, mains as well as dessert. We both had the pork belly roast as a main course and I cannot stop thinking about it! By far the best prepared, served and tasting I've tasted in a while. Between us we had a bottle of their finest Nitida white wines and it simply complemented the meal as well as the whole ambiance. We sat in the outside area overlooking the dam. The weather was perfect with the trees moving slightly to indicate a cool breeze. Thank you Nitida, thank you Cassia - we will be back!

Had a nice lunch at Cassia. The setting is amazing and service was good too. Lunch was lovely. Two of us had steak and one had a burger. Us two girls don't eat pork or seafood so the menu was restrictive for us. My daughter prefers chicken but it had chorizo in it. It would be great if the menu was amended when we bring overseas visitors as we always have to find somewhere which serves appropriate food. The steak was nice even though it wasn't what she really wanted. Please consider being able to alter the food menu to accommodate allergies and religious restrictions.

Really bad! Wow waiter was slow not clearing tables, I’m so upset. She came every 30min, food was bland I can definitely do a better job at home.

We ordered the warm potato salad starter portion, sad to say apart from a slither of beetroot and some minimal garnishing with an abundance of baby potato's, we were seriously put off!

I have been to Cassia several times and always loved everything about it.I cannot say that about my recent visit wich was supposed to be a treat breakfast for a dear friend.Nothing went right, the food order was wrong, the service slow, and our order of cake took over 20minutes to arrive and that was only after a complaint.

Our third visit since we arrived in CPT 3 January. We have travelled this road toward Durbanville many many times over the years but had never stopped at this Particular restaurant. Why hadn’t we?, we asked ourselves once we had been? We had obviously been missing out by not visiting. This is a superb restaurant with wonderful views and history. The food was fantastic, the service was just as good. Highly recommend.

We went for supper and was again impressed with the views and the ambiance of the restaurant. On previous visits we felt that the portions was small for the price.This time we really got value for money. The presentation was great and the eating quality outstanding. The service was good.The wine is overpriced.
