In 1978, Michele and Harold arrived in Cape Town from Amsterdam and started up the Whole Earth Centre – a natural living emporium offering health products and clothing made only from natural fibres.
Once their 5 children were grown up Michele and Harold moved to a charming cottage in Scarborough, a place that had always captured their hearts. Harold’s passion for this quaint, environmentally-conscious village lead him to assisting his friends in acquiring property there. So rather organically, Harold transitioned into the real estate business. Now, Jawitz Properties is a well-known asset to the community of Scarborough.
Now, nearly 40 years on from the inception of the original Whole Earth, their daughter Aura, home after 7 years in London, has returned to open the cafe in the newly renovated family cottage. With a keen interest in health and fitness, Aura is passionate about combining the best of first-world-hospitality and healthy food trends with the rustic charm of village life in Scarborough.
