In celebration of 333 years of Blaauwklippen Vineyards in 2015 the traditional wine centre was transformed into a venue dedicated to sensory ecstasy.
Renamed the Tasting Room, this feast of all the senses was relocated to the Blaauwklippen hospitality building located next to the cellar. The all-new Tasting Room incorporates several features, all geared to provide insight, comfort and pure sensory enjoyment. For the nominal fee of R20 per person, visitors can visit the Blaauwklippen cellar as part of regular, guided tours every day at 11:00 and 14:00.
Booking should be made in advance. Other interests are still to be catered for at Blaauwklippen. Visitors can shop and buy a wide range of products, from home ware to Riedel glassware and books to gifts. There’s a complimentary gift-wrap service too.
A new addition to the Blaauwklippen Estate with the advent of the new Tasting Room, the Vinoteque comprises of a carefully selected wine archive dating back to 1979 with more than 30 vintages available for purchase. If you love your history and your wine you’re in for a treat! Knowledgeable wine advisors will guide you through all these options with a smile and help you choose which to take home as a souvenir, as a gift, or simply to enjoy by yourself, as you taste a piece of history from one of the oldest wine farms in South Africa.
In addition to Blaauwklippen’s award winning brandies, the Spirits Room features a selection of premium potstill brandies by South African producers, creating the first brandy hub on a wine estate in South Africa all available for tasting and sale, and hosted by specially trained staff.
Blaauwklippen’s reputation for fine food is further bolstered by a wide range of wine and food offerings. Not to be missed is the Wine & Chocolate Experience, where the spirits too get a showing. If it’s something more substantial you’re after, then the canapé and wine pairing adventure is for you. Blaauwklippen is located on the on the R44 Stellenbosch Wine Route, approximately 4 kilometres south of Stellenbosch and about 50 kilometres east of Cape Town.
From the Airport, you can travel to Blaauwklippen by rental car or taxi in approximately 30 minutes:
Take the N2 in the direction of George. At the Stellenbosch exit, turn left onto the R44 (Broadway Blvd). Stay on this road until you see a sign for the Blaauwklippen Estate on the right. Turn right at the gate to the farm which is located less than 100 meters down the road.
From Cape Town, you can drive to Stellenbosch by taxi or rental car from Cape Town or the Harbour:
Take the N2 as described above. Alternatively, you can take the N1 in the direction of Paarl. At Paarl Outlying, turn right on to the R44 (Adam Tas Street). Stay on this road until you see a sign for the Blaauwklippen wine farm on the left.
