Opening on the 20th March 2015, The Artisan in Greenside focuses on creating a simple yet rustic atmosphere consisting of high quality products, ingredients and customer service.
We offer gourmet meals consisting of sandwiches, salads, bistro food and a small selection of dinners & breakfasts, as well as high quality coffee and a large range of cocktails.
We, as a collective, have made The Artisan a place for anyone and everyone to feel comfortable at, inviting people of all age and culture to enjoy what we have to offer.
The four of us, being Craig, Henry, Matt and Jon, were the owners of the previous venue known as Gin for the past two years and had decided halfway through 2014 to work toward a change we wanted to see along the strip in Greenside.
Combining experience, taste, and a constant hunger for a certain style to offer, we devoted a large amount of our time brainstorming and creating a concept that would satisfy a large amount of people within the community.
Considering the target market and the volumes that were attracted to Gin, there was a lot of room for change (as well as improvement). In doing so, we created a concept we believe to be a coming of age for the building, maturing everything Gin was, into the older brother that The Artisan is today.
Reinventing menu items such as what we refer to as ‘The Classics’, as well as our famous Gin cocktails, into a much more craft-worthy & artisanal product offering, we were well on our way to putting together a menu (which takes a lot of dedication to uphold) which satisfies those who have grown with Greenside as well as people of all ages coming from further around Johannesburg.
Receiving an incredible amount of positive feedback from customers and surrounding establishments (Online and within the venue), we have found full confidence in the fact that The Artisan was a change and concept that will fit well into Greenside for many years to come, and will continue to satisfy people of all styles and kinds, whether it be the music, décor, food, cocktails or atmosphere we offer.
