Tai Ping Restaurant was established in 1982, and is a family run business, well known by its regular clientele. A direct translation of the restaurant’s name which is Cantonese in origin is “Peace and Tranquility”, which best describes the very laid back and relaxed atmosphere synonymous with this restaurant. With its decorative blue walls, comfy chairs and light Chinese music giving it a great ambience!
You can find Tai Ping, situated in a quiet cul-de-sac in Newlands, just a stones throw away from Sahara Park Stadium, on the corner of Wilkinson and Dean Streets. In addition to the main dining area, the restaurant also offers a smaller separate function room for more intimate occasions like birthdays, anniversaries and other special celebrations and in this respect set menus can be tailored to suit your requirements. Travelling from Cape Town on the M3 out of town towards Claremont. Take the first Rondebosch turn-off to the left and follow the road down the hill. Stay to the right hand side and take the turning right at the stop-street into Newlands Ave. Drive down Newlands Avenue and take the 3rd turning left into Dean Street. Follow Dean Street down to the bottom. We are situated close to the corner of the Wilkinson and Dean Streets.
