“The only way to really enjoy seafood, is in abundance, sand under the feet, next to a bonfire and amongst friends.”

De Vette Mossel (The Fat Mussel) offers much more than perfectly prepared seafood – this is an experience – in unusual and informal surroundings with traditional Cape fishing culture – in true West Coast Style. Make an evening or afternoon of it – we eat for 2 to 3 hours.

Eat as much as you like – or can!

Kick off your shoes, have a glass or two of excellent Cape wine and indulge in seafood in abundance! We have our own seaside beach – even in the middle of the country!

The excellent preparation of top quality seafood, in abundance and value for money, is our pride. We do not have a bar. You may bring your own drinks, glasses and ice – and NO corkage fee. We do offer you a complementary glass of wine – just to say that we are happy that you are there. Do not expect hard-crafted crystal glasses, or silver cutlery – you are on the beach.

Please note: Bookings are essential. We are open mainly over weekends and during holidays.

We only accept EFT and Cash payments.
