Brother and sister, Graziella and Chef Franco, have headed up the team of this cosy, family run Italian restaurant in Edenvale since Da Graziella's opened in 2006. Born in Ethiopia, the siblings emigrated to South Africa in 1957 and never looked back. As Italians, Graziella and Franco strive to offer their guests the best genuine Italian cuisine with some traditional recipes.
Walking into this homely restaurant, the small town Italian frescos on the walls and nicknack’s in the deli emphasize the sense of family and community that Graziella and Franco value so much. The warm hearted service immediately beckons you to sit back and relax, enjoying a night out without pretence or ceremony.
Unlike some Italian restaurants, Da Graziella's always offer fresh and organic food, procuring only the best ingredients. All dishes are freshly prepared on order ensuring the continuous success of the restaurant. One of the best Starters to try is the Zucchini Ripeni, baby marrows are stuffed with cheese, bread crumbs and baby marrow pulp and then grilled. While in true Italian style any of the pastas are a must have. Chef Franco recommends any of their homemade pastas as he experiments with lavish sauces. If you have to choose from the menu, go with the Tagliatelle al Pesto, basil, garlic, olive oil, pine nuts and parmesan, or if you prefer a more creamy base, the Fettuccine Porcini e Asparagi with porcini mushrooms and asparagus and a touch of cream.
For those not in the mood for Pasta or Pizza, there is a variety of meat and fish dishes. The veal dishes are a speciality with a variety of choices like the traditional Veal Romana cooked in onions, marsala, artichokes and a touch of cream. The restaurant's roast rabbit is also definitely worth a try. Desserts are a feast with traditional regulars like the Crème Brûlée and Panna Cotta, but a must have is the delectable Almond Meringues with cream, chocolate, nuts, biscuits and dates.
Be sure to take a look at what the deli has to offer, as most of their fresh, tempting food is available to take home as well.
