Bouchon offers the discerning wine enthusiast the unique opportunity to enjoy spectacular international and local wines by the glass in the charming setting of an urban winery in the very heart of Cape Town.
Behind this wine bar venture is the dynamic duo of winemaker Christophe Durand (Dorrance Wines) and restaurateur Faisal Khakoo (La Boheme Bistro & Wine Bar, Engruna Eatery) who saw the gap for a sophisticated yet relaxed wine experience that compliments the winery - a setting unlike anything found in the city centre.
Capitalising on the earthy, industrial charm of the cellar, Bouchon sits alongside wine barrels and winery machinery with a glass wall separating the working of the cellar from the happenings of the open kitchen, seating, and bar area.
A local and international wine list, which is complimented by a ‘special selection,’ allows the customer to discover a world of exceptional wines without having to commit to an entire bottle.
On the food front Bouchon boasts a concise menu of simple yet flavoursome dishes that serve as a ‘side’ to the wine offering. Based on the fresh food concept the menu will change regularly and will include tapas and desserts.
Head east on Nelson Mandela Boulevard/N2 and take exit 4 for Roodebloem Road toward University Estate/Woodstock. Continue onto Roodebloem Road and turn left stay on Roodebloem Road. Turn left to merge onto Nelson Mandela Boulevard/N2 toward Cape Town. Take the Strand Street exit and then merge onto Newmarket Street. Continue onto Strand Street and then turn left onto Bree Street. Turn right at the 2nd cross street onto Hout Street. Bouchon Bistro will be on the left.
