Tomo Japanese Restaurant

Excellent!! Decided to try out for quick lunch and was seriously impressed - best Asian meal for a long time. Everything was superbly cooked and full of flavour. Definitely be going back.

Throughly enjoyed our dinner tonight. Delicious ramen, sushi and dumplings. Exemplary service too! A new favorite.

We were looking for "proper" Japanese sushi ie. not covered in mayo and boy did we find it. Sayeed (sorry if misspelled) was our waiter and he was so attentive. He saw my son was struggling with his chopsticks and brought a fork without us even asking. We were so impressed with the food and service we went back to eat a second time. Unfortunately the miso soup wasn't nice the second time but Sayeed made sure to take it off our bill without us complaining. I would definitely recommend Tomo, and if we are in Cape Town again, we will be back.

Sushi is an art, and the worst is that you can get served with not fresh fish, and somebody with not the required culinary skills to do so. Not the case at Tomo, a must for any sushi or Japanese cuisine lovers.

I wish I could order the entire collection off the menu... owner chef David is super cool and most knowledgeable with most asian culinary arts... some hand picked meals were to die for..

A great restaurant for those who enjoy Japanese cuisine. Fantastic sashimi, fresh. Great service. Highly authentic experience.

My first time visiting Tomo was a pleasant surprise. I generally do not eat sushi. However the sushi I had was amazing. Crispy California roll was a winner. Fried Dumplings were also very good. I have been back twice since my first visit and both times the food was fresh and tasty.

The restaurant is relaxed and the service is friendly. The Bento box was a winner although there was a bit of a wait for it. The rest of the food came quite quickly though and tasted great. The menu has a good selection of Japanese dishes besides sushi. The prices are reasonable by Cape Town standards. I will visit again.

Consider it is in city Centre, there was expectation, but the rice was not correct to start with, chief skill was definately not professional, self tough, as the nigiri, fish v.s. rice, proportion is incorrect plus the sources (too much takes the taste away), the fish was not even in the "right" part to be used for various plates, the various rolls we ordered all taste the same -- because too much of the source and same source applies to all. The handroll seaweeds packet has been opened for a while, to has contain "other" taste. The fried goods was too oily, the batter was incorrect, not Japanese style at all, consider I am in a Japanese restaurant.Presentation was poor. The Chief uniform needs a good wash. Anyway go with low expectation incase of major disappointment.
