The Hussar Grill - Stellenbosch

We went on the Tuesday night “date night “ special. What do you expect of a date night special and what do you get? Arrived at 19:00 and by 21:00 hadn’t received the main course. Yes maybe lots of time to chat, but service as bad as it gets. As long time customer, you won’t see me again.

We visited Hussar Grill Stellenbosch for our end of term function. We were a big group of 40 and were pleasantly surprised by the way they handled every order. Such warm, friendly staff, excellent food and great value for money. Can't wait to visit them again with my family!

Service, food, menu, staff, all absolutely five star! Consistently outstanding. For non beef eaters the chicken and fish options are equally mouth watering!

Very accomodating.We arrived with no reservation at a busy time and they catered for our table of 6 with no wait.Food was very good, steaks cooked to order and friendly waiter.

Staff are super friendly, food is absolutely amazing and atmosphere is so great. I wish I could give 20stars, you guys are the best at what you do, please keep it going.

The food is always good at any Hussar - same at Stellenbosch. The No Corkage policy is a winner. But.... Due to their small space inside they allow anyone that they can squeeze in to sit down. You sit almost on top of each other. This is the worst I have encountered and even made me nervous pre-Covid days. I feel for restaurants and their staff, but to try and cram in maximum people for more turnover is stupid and shortsighted. Not only will they be closed down, but all Hussar Grill restaurants and their staff will suffer because of one shortsighted manager / owner. I hope the Spur group does something about this to keep us safe.

Amazing food pity wait staff let the end downThe carpetbagger steak was so soft and tender. But the red wine we ordered was served warm We noticed it was also a different year. When mentioned to wait staff. She brought us an idea bucket and explained this was the year they had. We ordered a second bottle. This time the bottle was again another year. She served it without mentioning this (again). We left a generous tip but on leaving even though we said bye no one came to let us out of the restaurant. First time this happened ever !!!

We ate there on Friday night and again today on Sunday. One of the big delights is the fact that the waiters are Afrikaans speaking (like myself - I am sorry I cannot review in Afrikaans) and made us feel completely at home and welcomed. They are extremely well-mannered and professional. The food was also very good. As my steak was somewhat overcooked today, I promptly received another. The service is excellent! I will go again and again.

The friendly service was already apparent when I made a reservation. Two of us visited the Hussar Grill and we were served by Blessing. He was courteous and attentive. We both had carpaccio starters and then fillet: a carpetbagger and a Madagascan. The steak was perfectly done - medium-rare as ordered. Sides were roasted vegetables as well as mash - I was not particularly fond of the latter, but overall this was a very minor complaint. I would love to go back to try some of the other steak dishes on offer. All in all, a most enjoyable experience.

Our booking at another restaurant fell through and they accommodated us on short notice. We started with a shared plate of bitterballen, just taking the edge of our hunger. I had the 200g steak which was perfectly prepared to my taste - I do recommend the veggies as a side. The chocolate vodca .. njam! Very good.
