Fantastic steaks and pavlova will visit again when next in East London and will recommend it as the best steaks in the Eastern and Southern Cape

Starters of Snails and Camembert were good as were the 2 steaks that we ordered. Wine list was impressive too. The only downside, which marred the evening a little, was the fact that my husband had made a booking at The Cricketer a week prior to our arrival. He mentioned to the person on the phone that it was our 25th wedding anniversary, so please could we have a nice table (he hadn't, thank goodness, asked for a cake or anything like that-just a nice table). Fast forward to our visit and no reservation was in the book on arrival. This was rather embarrassing for my husband. We were offered a 'choice' of 3 tables, the 'best' one being right in the entrance of the restaurant - not very romantic - not even a candle 9n the table. Our waitress was quite impersonable too. When I enquired at the front desk as to why the reservation had not been made, I was promptly told that 'this happens sometimes but at least you got a table'. I realise that the restaurant gets extremely busy but sometimes that personal touch goes a long way and I feel that in no way was this made on our special day.

A meal at The Cricketer you will NEVER go wrong... If you are wanting to impress anyone, whether a partner or an international guest, you will never be dissappointed !!! The Steaks are incredible!!! The service is excellent, staff always on hand and Tyrone will always pop over to your table to make sure you are happy... Thank you for this awesome restaurant Alison and Tyrone. They also have lovely chalets and wedding venue.... Absolutely awesome....

Small and cozy, especially on a cold winters evening. The service is efficient as well as friendly, the selection good, and the steak is melt in your mouth delicious. The relaxed atmosphere is especially good for families. A recommended evening out, it never disappoints.

I guess you might say I'm a critical dinner, primarily because my wife cooks fantastically.So I often feel a little cheated when I get the bill and things haven't been quite right.Well I guess at the Cricketer I had no such thoughts.My wife's comments "That is the best meal (Steak) I can remember". I had to agree, all our meals were fantastic. If I have to be critical the desert Apple crumble tasted like it had been frozen and reheated. (not Freshly baked).A little out of the way but definitely worth the trip to this hidden gem.Well done team.

We were told about this restaurant by a friend who lives locally, and we were not disappointed!We thoroughly enjoyed our meal - steaks cooked to perfection, wonderful wines and a cozy set-up. Its a great spot for "date night"

this restaurant is a short distance outside East London on the wild coast road. It has comfortable inside area and undercover veranda. Food and service excellent and the menu interesting well worth the visit!!.

Went there for dinner with friends and the service and food were outstanding. The steak was very good and the wine as well. We were sittung outside - which was actually inside beecause it was coverd and protected us from the rain that night there. Very unique experience. Hope to be back next time in East London. Easy parking right in front. Make sure to make a reservation. It seems very popular.

If I want to spoil my husband and myself I book at this restaurant. The restaurant is worth the drive out of town. Relaxed atmosphere, not at all noisy and the best steaks ever. A number of interesting choices and different cuts and sizes. Sides of veg and chips also very good.
