Moody Lagoon @ Benguela Cove

I must say as much as I was looking forward to a fine dining experience I was very dissappointed with the food, out of the 3 main course options, only the gnocchi was tastefully delicious. We were not able to order anything other than what was on the set menu and in my opinion we definitely didn't get value for money.

We were a large party of 13 people, having attempted to book online it indicated I needed to phone which I did. The reservation lady was helpful and it was confirmed that we had secured a table on the Terrance for 13 people. Due the number of people I was required to pay a R1950 deposit and a 12% service charge was automatically added. No problem. When we arrive however we had be shunted to the courtyard with the excuse that the terrace is to hot (despite multiple diners already seated) and the lagoon view which to me is a important part of the dining experience was replaced with a view in the courtyard of a very large sliced food truck and blank white wall with a no smoking sign on it. The manager on duty was of little to no help and kept going on about the sun on the terrace. There was no attempt to rectify the situation at all. One would think that confirming a booking telephonically and in writing and paying a R1950 deposit would assist with securing at least a semi decent seating area. Overall a disappointing experience.

My family and I had lunch by you 26/4/2021 and ordered the beer battered half and chips which as always was good and tasty. Such a pity that our waiter was a bit useless and left us mostly high and dry during that time not clearing our empty water glasses and gin glasses from our table. He took his time to clear our empty plates from our table and after lunch we ordered coffees which also took nearly 20 minutes to make which was almost cold after we told him to leave the coffee and bring us our bill which also took it’s time to reach our table. We had a table inside at the opening of the sliding doors to the veranda. Poor service equals a bad tip. If only you guys had more staff to help inside and outside then the tips would’ve changed but that’s now water under the bridge and we will see you again on our next visit when we pass this way again.

Had my birthday lunch here. I had a delicious burger and my wife had lovely grilled hake. Wine was excellent. No complaints from us.

Our Sunday lunch was disappointing. We waited 2 hours for our mains to arrive. Pork belly was ice cold, mussel sauce lumpy, rest of the food deep fried. Complained to the manager who didn't seem to care too much about it. Only thing that was top class was the bill Zar 2400 for 4 kiddies meals, 3 starters, 4 mains, 1 desert and a bottle of wine. We won't come back.

Tea Smoked Chicken with sweet mango, quinoa, marinated carrots and cashew nuts, olive and feta and my choice was octopus with spring onion, tomato, chilli and thymevinaigrette .....delish and fresh for a balmy summer Sunday..we will be back!

We were really disappointed with the food. My husband's steak was almost cold when it was delivered to the table. The waiter took it back to the kitchen, but we had almost finished our food when the waiter brought it back and the meat, which was originally ordered to be medium done, was by then overcooked and tough. The chips that came with the hamburgers were dry and tasteless.I agree with other reviews that the venue and the wine is really good, but I cannot understand why this restaurant gets such a high rating. The service and food was mediocre. We won't be back.

Family XMas lunch at Moody Lagoon. Excellent food and service. Slow roasted lamb shoulder a winner. Good food, good wine, amazing views and good company. Thank you Benguela Cove!

View was breathtaking! We originally visited for the Oyster and Wine pairing but were a bit disappointed when the Oysters were sold out, but this just amplifies their quality (hence the 5/5 rating)! We opted for a cheese and wine pairing and a charcuterie and wine paring. These pairings were outstanding and were met with quality service as well as a beautiful Malbec and Chardonnay. We highly recommend for a wine loving Individual!

we have driven past this restaurant on numerous occasions and today we visited for lunch.....WHY DID WE NOT DO THIS SOONER !!!a spectacular venue, beautifully fitted out with stunning artworks....The food was excellent....7 very happy guests....Clarence was efficient, knowledgeable and attentive....the Rose wine went down very well....Unfortunately too windy to sit outside.....but we will be back in January and hopefully the weather will be kinder...Overall an excellent experience.
