“New Chef New Menu”
Maximillien have introduced an exciting new menu under the team headed up by Chef Kalpesh, ex Michelangelo Hotel. The 200g NORWEGIAN SALMON served medium as a matter of choice, is simply simple and delicious. As are the MOZAMBICAN QUEEN PRAWNS served in their shells, x 8. We had these accompanied by 7mm american styled fries, coleslaw and steamed baby potatoes again, simple simply delicious. And they've added my favourite african spinach, Morogo to the sides. A second option was the Perfect Shares menu of CHORIZO & MUSSEL POT of brandy flambéed chorizo, steamed mussels, mini baguette which we had with the Main of PARMESAN AND PEA RISOTTO (V) Snap peas, basil & mint pesto. Wonderful! Only let down was the deconstructed apple pie surprise: BIG APPLE SIGNATURE DISH (N) Spiced apple compote, white chocolate mousse, almond & cinnamon sablé, candied walnut crumble beautifully presented but disappointly small in size, big on a sugar rush in its red outside covering and not enough apple. The white chocolate mousse was iced when perhaps this dessert by its connotation we were expecting something closer to a fondant or an apple crumble with warm apple sauce oozing out of the apple dome. Or maybe I just miss the chocolate fondant in a dome. Attention to detail, staff very engaging and helpful, crazy good prices, wonderful setting both in restaurant or sitting upstairs outside at the Davinci Pool Deck with the sound of water as music. Looking forward to trying the rest of this exciting menu.
