Marco's African Place

We haven’t been to the restaurant in a long time. Totally satisfied! Wholesome traditional cuisine! We actually dined there 2 nights in a row, that’s how good the food was.If you are looking for good African food (mogodu, hardbody. etc) then this is the place. There’s a live marimba band on weekends which adds to a great ambience and night out and gives totally goosebumps with their performances.

Most of my party ordered an African game sampler dish comprised of Springbox, Kudo, and another choice of Ostrich or Crocodile. We sat up on the balcony overlooking the main dining floor which provided privacy for our large party of ten. The meals and presentation were very good and the staff provided excellent service. Nothing overly fancy, just good food served by friendly staff - at a great price.

The food was not great. A lamb dish was most definitely overcooked shredded beef and the lamb stew was more similar to goat. The band was just way too loud, making the entire experience lousy. Much better restaurants around. This place is set up for tour groups so not authentic feeling.

Visited here twice during my two week stay in Cape Town. Loved the food and the entertainment. The first trip I had lamb. When I returned I oredered the lamb potjie. Both were very flavorful and satisfying. The entertainment changed each night but typcially included marimba players, singers and dancers. Definitely a nice place to enjoy local foods.

We booked a table and enjoyed great food which included traditional African dishes e.g. Smiley and baked caterpillar, although more regular dishes such as kudu, springbok and impala are also available. Vegetarian dishes were also on offer. The waiters were very knowledgable and helpful, providing good pairings between the food and wine. Everything was beautifully presented.Whilst enjoying our meal, music and song was provided by local performers who also encouraged audience participation. It was a great way to enjoy true African hospitality and have a full night's entertainment at a reasonable cost.

This year we again had a great meal here. Owner very friendly. Pizza and Tortellini 4 cheeses very tastfull. Location not really pretty, but the food absolutely worthwhile. Next time we certainly return.

We were recommended to try this restaurant away from the V& A as something abit different. Well worth the visit. Lovely food in a lively atmosphere. Entertainment was brill. Very reasonable prices.

Happy cheerful place. Excellent restaurant good choice of food. Lovely music. Good value for money. Staff very friendly.

We chose to come here almost randomly by the list of restaurants. We found very warm guys welcoming us and giving us many explanations about the foods they served.More than food there were a live exhibition of a group of young guys from the townships around the city, they played and danced lovely with great energy and joy.

Delicious food,great ambiance,supercool waitress and very nice life music Must have this one night ;for sure:)
