Laurentina - Hartbeespoort

Arrived with family for an unexpected lunch at 15h00 by 17h30 we paid for our drinks and left. Drinks alone was R1200. We ordered kids ate. Calamari found in chicken strips. Bacalou in chicken a bras. Starters Arrived but rest of the food for the guests hadn't arrived by the time we left. Cod was salty so we couldnt order. Wine received after 30min told no wine glasses. Waiting 30min for coke zero. Shocking. Management just kept apologizing but nothing changed. No communication from waitress nor managers. Not first experience like this at the restaurant. Thought we would give them another chance. Pity, vibe great. Tonah makes a great vibe there. But you wont see us back.

I am giving a 1 star only because I cant give it a zero. We went there for lunch over Easter weekend, took close on an hour just to order drinks (most staff just look at you when you try flag them and walk past) . When we ordered drinks the waitress told us she cant take our food order because the kitchen was too busy. Struggled to find someone to take our food order - eventually we wrote it down on a piece of paper and gave it to one of the staff. They did give us a round of drinks for the long wait. When the food eventually arrived approximately 3.5/4 hours later (now early supper time), most of the orders were wrong and ice cold (felt like it was taken out of the fridge), that's when we left. Saw a lot of other people just walking out that day as well. What a joke!

Service poor, we waited over an hour for our food. Numerous peoples arriving afterwards received drinks food etc before us. After the first complaint ,there were no glasses available so none of our drinks was received. As soon as the drinks arrived, we ordered food, waited over an hour whereafter the waiter said the calamari was done? I would think a restaurant makes provisions for glasses and food, especially on Easter weekend. The food was cold as soon as it came out of the kitchen. Not impressed at all. Upperdeck would have been a much better option.Plates chipped.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Tito is a brilliant entertainer. We try to go at least once a week

My wife and I visited Laurentina for our Wedding Anniversary. Everything was simply amazing. The manager, Antonio went out of his way to make it special for us. Our waiter Americo was also amazing. The atmosphere was unbelievable and the food exquisite. Without a doubt the best tasting food I have had in Hartbeespoort and we live there. Simply a must to all lovers of Portuguese cuisine. Thank you to Antonio and the team for making our anniversary unforgettable. We will definitely be back.

The starter of chicken livers peri-peri was a bad omen of what was to come. The colour was grey without even a hint of peri-peri. The livers were rubbery and the bread was so stale it crumbled. Nothing like the lovely rolls you get in Mozambique. Then i had the prego roll which was just an over-cooked chicken breast stuck between two pieces of stale bread. No sauce, no flavour, no effort put into it at all. One of our party had the famous baby chicken but it looked and tasted like road kill. She sent it back. The atmosphere is good and I would imagine it is nice for a drink and snacks but rather eat at home.

I wrote a blog post about Gullaume Clouston in Harties. Since then whenever I see him, he tells me about the lekker food and the lekker vibe at Laurentina. In the blog post Laurentina also features as one of Gullaume's top five places in Harties. With a few days left in Harties my partner and I dropped in to order food to go. While we waited we ordered something to drink. Nicholas served us well and we enjoyed his vibes! At home the food was so good I forgot to take a picture of the food. We ordered the Chicken liver and the Wednesday special, Hake & Calamari. It was beyond delicious! Now I understand why Gullaume can't stop talking about this place, Laurentina!

My husband and I stopped for a quick lunch and ended up staying 2 hours, that's how lovely it is. We had peri peri chicken - the best. The service is excellent and the atmosphere is awesome. Thank you and keep it up.

After reading the reviews on tripadvisor and recommendations of others, we decide to do a special road trip from Pretoria and invited friends from Bedfordview to join us for lunch.We visit Mozambique regularly and we are very fond of portuguese cuisine being used to good food in Mozambique as well as local, always trying out a new experience at new portuguese restaurants if and when we get the chance.Unfortunately our visit on 2 Jan 2020 was a disaster except for the ambiance and vibe with live music we experienced.PRAWN RISOLES: Prawn missing in action, nothing inside except a thick fish sauce, totally overpriced if this is supposed to be a prawn. I showed the waitress what was inside, only got a "I am sorry sir"CLAMS: Not sure if this is a traditional recipe. Tasted different than what I had before almost a onion soup for the sauce, served with one very small bread roll not sufficient to enjoy the sauce, so I requested just one extra roll and was charged for it....CHORIZO: Out of stock!CHICKEN LIVERS: No taste, bland not spicy as it should beCHICKEN CURRY: Curry sauce was tasty but the chicken cubes tasteless and dryTRINCHADO (Rump): Tasteless, chewy rubber and not a good choiceBABY CHICKEN: Usually my favorite at any portuguese restaurant but sadly this was the worst I ever had. Cold chicken? No way? Yes.... exactly what was served. Ordered with milo frito but received fries. The waitress apologised and said she will bring the milo frito immediately......... when we requested take away boxes she said she forgot the milo frito, I then received it in my take away boxSERVICE: Very long waiting times especialy drinks orders. Few times had to get up and find her but she had too many tables to serve...... warm red wine in summer? Not acceptableAMBIANCE/VIBE: Was great with live music, although the restaurant is very hot with fan not operational where we were seatedFEEDBACK: After complaining to the waitress requesting for manager or owner she said there was no manager or owner available. She tried to save the situation by saying that the kitchen is under severe pressure and pushing the food through as quick as possible.......?CONCLUSION: I don't think we will return........ I would rather spend my money elsewhere especially if you intend spending more than R1000 at a time
