Kyoto Garden Sushi

Really good food, clean and fancy place, and wonderful service. In general, it exceeded our expectatives. We would repeat for sure!

We had the best meal of our lives - beautiful Miso soup and even amazing Miso Icecream! Tuna tartare to die for - chefs sushi creation with a generous 14 pieces - salmon California roll, 2 tuna nigiri, 2 line fish and 2 prawn nigiri - they provided most of the dishes on their take-away menu - my favourite was the Sashimi - 2 pieces salmon, 2 tuna and 2 line fish - my daughter who know Japanese food raved about the Ramen noodles - we were getting full but so enjoyed the Japanese-style Kingklip rice dish and the wonderful crayfish coleslaw salad - please give it a go you will not be disappointed - their delivery service arrive on time to the minute - best food our whole family has ever tasted!

Exceptional sushi! We’ve been to japan and had authentic sushi! This place is just as good! Service was excellent, the owner was professional and engaging. Highly recommended and Daniel our waiter was very knowledgeable

Had an out of this world experience, tasting new flavors and a unique dining experience. They made my birthday feel very special and our waitress Kendra made as feel at ease and right at home and answered alm our questions about the menu. 100 % would go again !

In Cape Town for 7 days & I ate 3 times in this fantastic little place. Scott takes a lot of pride in his food & the produce he uses. To the point he approached us on our 2nd visit & asked us to change the selection & let him choose some for us. The Crayfish Miso soup was fantastic. Needless to say we went back. A special mention to Scott’s his team. Each night, their humour & service made it enjoyable.

Very vibey street location, making parking difficult. Uber instead. Small restaurant with a separate, private dining area for larger groups, or the approx 24 seater main area. Tasteful decor, appropriate background music would be nice. Traditional Japanese fine dining, accompanied by good Japanese beer and whiskey. Middle range SA Wine selection from good estates- the above all at a heafty fee. Little tasters brought between courses, to enhance the experience of Japanese cuisine. Waitrons came across as new. Scott, the owner, spends the evening on the floor, mingling with patrons and also assisting with service, where required.

My girlfriend reserved a table for R800 and was looking forward to a freat sushi eveing. Needless to say from the moment we walked in, we were left totally dissappointed. No ambience, no background music, terrible food so much so that we were willing to leave hungry. The food looks looks nothing like the gallery pics. The waitress new nothing, uncomfortable seating. My gf said it was a waste of make up. I mean who boils duck. I would not recommend at all. Go to ocean basket rather.

Enjoyed a nice glass of sake at the bar last night. The bartender was very helpful at explaining and suggesting what sake would be the best.

We were visiting Cape Town from the US and staying at the hotel across the street so we decided to pop in for dinner. We were seated at the bar which had an exposed light bulb underneath due to a broken cover and I burned my knee. I proceeded to tell the amazing waitress to take it out and she said she had already informed the owner previously but the strange owner wouldn't allow her to do that. I told the owner myself and he refused to take the light bulb out and tried to touch me inappropriately in front of my husband. I think he felt awkward after that because he proceeded to go to a nearby store and bought some cream for my burn but the bartender who happened to be studying to be a nurse had already given me something to put on it. The owner then gave us free alcohol and wouldn't leave us alone so that we wouldn't make a big health and safety issue out of it. Was extremely disappointed that a random stop at this fine dining restaurant with such high prices would turn out like this and affect my activities for the next day.

I would not recommend this restaurant. My friend and I reserved a spot which costs R800. Having prepaid this huge amount we expected to be seated immediately. But when we got to the restaurant on time we were poorly greated and we had to wait to be seated. We then ordered 2 cocktails and they came at different times, the waitress said that the bartenders only make 1 cocktail at a time. The 2 waiters which served us were both unable to answer simple questions about what was in certain dishes. Then, we had to ask 3 times for our water to be brought to us. Furthermore, when we ordered our main meals the waiter only told us once one of the main meals had arrived that the other dish was unavailable.Thus, we ended up drinking our cocktails and eating our meals at different times. I was so upset to have chosen this restaurant for my birthday. I highly do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The food took long and it was not delicious, and the service was absolutely terrible.
