Ginger The Restaurant

A trip to Ginger is a busy experience with several small tidbits from the kitchen, including a piece of toasted garlic bread, an amuse bouche, a palette cleanser, and an after dinner cookie. In between those offerings are those plates you’ve actually ordered, such as the starter, your main meal, and dessert. That equals several visits from the server and a very harried eating experience. The food was excellent, though we felt our eating pace was rushed a bit. For example, we were there to relax and take our time, still enjoying our delicious garlic bread with our drinks, when our server cleared everything off of our table — including our half-eaten bread, which we would love to have finished — to give us a palette cleanser. While I understand the intention, the garlic bread really wouldn’t have negatively impacted my experience with my main course. It was kind of a strange, and rushed, imposition. The same thing happened with our main course. I sat back with some food left on my plate, as I always do, knowing my husband would finish the bits and pieces I did not. It’s a ritual. However, our plates were taken away without so much as a, “May I?” Dinner should be a much more relaxed experience. There were not people waiting to be seated. In all, the food was good. The steak was cooked to perfection, and though the fish was a little bony, it was cooked and seasoned nicely, allowing the taste to come through. The spiced ice cream trio was a nice finisher. I do recommend Ginger, and we will probably return. Next time we will let our server know that we would like a slower pace. After a long day’s work, no one wants to be rushed through a delicious meal.

Definitely a restaurant to visit when in PE. Always ticks all the boxes for service and quality. Great sea views if you get a table outside.

Every bite, from the pre-meal sweet garlic bread, to the final delight of dessert is a masterpiece. The staff members are friendly, very professional and knowledgeable about each dish.You will definitely enjoy a visit to Ginger!

Lovely impromptu evening on the veranda of Ginger at the Beach Hotel.We were immediately accommodated in an ideal spot overlooking the twinkling lights of the Bay. Attentive service and gorgeous food made it such a special experience. The prawn starter was an absolute revelation, I could have just had that and been perfectly happy! The combination of juicy fat prawns with garlic, cheese and white wine was sublime. Lots of delicious bread to mop up the juices. What a treat the whole evening was. Thank you to the wonderful staff. Highly recommended!

As we first eat with our eyes, presentation of food should be impeccable, I was really blown over. The food was delicious and presented with love. I will definitely visit again when I’m in PE

We had a business dinner at the restaurant and we were a big group of people. The waitor is very friendly and also cators to all your needs. They have a large selection of great meals and they make everything to perfection. Their meat and fish dishes are too die for and their desert selection is unique. For a classy meal and a great venue for special occasion I would highly recommend Ginger. Welldone

My husband and some of his business partners and I have been traveling nationally to set up offices. We are from JHB Sandton. We stayed at the Boardwalk Hotel and was referred to Ginger for dinner. We went there last night and I must say the whole experience was out of this world! And the person who made that possible is Terrence the Zimbabwean! I have no words for him! Professional, energetic, excited and passionate! He knew the whole menu off by heart and honestly we all ordered his selections and the food was delicious, extremely rich, but delicious!! So this is a appreciation post for Terrence at Ginger! Thank you for the amazing experience and thank you for being so patient even though we were the last table at the restaurant and left past 12! It was a phenomenal experience I hope Terrence gets the credit he deserves! See you guys next month (we come up once a month)RegardsChristina

It has been awhile since we last had a dinner at Ginger and we were very impressed with entire dining experience, which has taken been up a notch.The food was delicious with a brilliant combination of flavour and presentation. Our waiter (Terrence) was excellent and very attentive, but it was the small touches which made the difference I.eThe sous-chef coming to the table, the palet cleanser, amuse bouche.Recommended dishes: prawn cervices, smoke butternut soup, trio carpaccio, pan fried kingklip with green curry and salmon with noodles.

We loved our dinner while passing through. The menu was so well priced and all our food was beautifully presented and delicious. Sindiso gave us friendly efficient service. Will definitely visit again.

We had booked this restaurant for our last night in Summerstrand which was also our last night in South Africa and were so glad that we did. Although not as cheap compared to some other restaurants we visited, there is a more upmarket feel here. We ended up having 3 superb courses and were well looked after all evening by the excellent staff.
