Stewart Tee, Ginger’s new Head chef, was raised and trained right here in the Eastern Cape. In 2011, he graduated from the 3 Fat Fish School of Food in Jeffrey’s Bay and launched his ongoing passion and interest in food.
Stewart has worked in Bistro style, fine dining and African cuisine style restaurants. In 2015 he and his family opened The Marina Wharf in Jeffrey’s Bay, which they later sold in 2017.
Stewart then moved to England and did part time work for a Restaurant recommended by the Michelin Guide.
On his return he joined the Infood Deli team in Jeffrey’s Bay as head chef, until moving to Ginger in October 2018.
Stewart’s passion for food is all encompassing; from growing and sourcing, to preparation and technique, he is constantly striving to challenge himself and broaden his knowledge and skills when it comes to anything food related.
As a social person, cooking allows him to express himself creatively as well as work closely with a team, and offers the opportunity to make people happy with his food.
“I prefer to be hands on, and working with others rather than on my own. My personality strives to build new relationships and I have high expectations of my ability. I love food and learning more about it every day. I have so many ideas and take lots of pride in my work. I am also full of energy and love the rush I get from intense pressure.”
Stewart is also a dedicated family man, when he’s not creating dishes at Ginger, he enjoys quality time with his family.
Ginger is excited to have Stewart heading up the team and look forward to sharing in his creativity and passion.
