The name Sanook comes from a Thai word meaning to have a good time or be happy. Sanook eatery in East London aims to bring that meaning straight to the plates of all of its diners with simple, tasty food. While East London is not usually known for its culinary prowess, Sanook Eatery goes above and beyond.
Sanook’s menu is fairly small but everything that they do offer is delicious and hearty. For vegetarians and health fiends, or just those with a smaller appetite, there is an array of salads, such as ‘Going Green’ with ingredients like peppery greens, avocado and parmesan shavings, or the ‘Asian Invasion’ with seared beef fillet, baby marrow and cabbage.
Panini options abound too, as do burgers, with options like the ‘Rockstar’ with feta, bacon, avocado and red onion, demanding your attention. There are also delicious crispy pizzas, snack boards and numerous side-dishes to choose from.
The restaurant itself is low key and relaxed, with minimalist furnishing and clean white walls with splashes of bright green accent. The light wooden tables with white chairs and a very cosy outdoor area which is shaded, and as zen-like as the interior. Those looking for good food at an unpretentious venue will be happy to find this place.
Travel on the N2 from East London and take exit 1051 for Bonza Bay Road toward M8/Beacon Bay/East London. Turn right onto Bonza Bay Road. At the circle, take the first exit to your left and you will find Beacon Bay Crossing Shopping Centre.
