Riverside Caffe in Sandton has been trading since November 1997, and due to its on-going success and following of loyal customers, owner Dino has spread his wings and opened a sister restaurant in the sprawling suburb of Bryanston. Here you will find the ambience even more laid back, compared to the hustle and bustle of central Sandton, The interior is lighter and brighter thanks to the abundance of glass windows, from which you can see plenty of open spaces instead of office blocks!

You will need a good 10-15 minutes to peruse the menu at Riverside Caffe, as not only is there an amazing selection of dishes to choose from, but each one is also described in detail (making you hungrier by the minute, as you try to decide whether to overload on protein or carbs or stick steadfastly to your diet!). Breakfast is to many people the most important meal of the day, and Dino has taken this to heart with a menu ranging from the Supremo Riverside – a mammoth mixed grill including fried haloumi and fries, Italian style omelettes such as the grilled vegetable and feta, and mouth watering croissants with delicious fillings like the creamed spinach and mozzarella.

Lunch time options start with an impressive range of salads available in a myriad of combinations from grilled steak on rocket with Parmesan shavings to the formaggio Insalata with its four varieties of cheese – mozzarella, feta, gorgonzola, and Parmesan shavings. Vegetarians are well catered for too with pasta dishes such as the stuffed pasta with haloumi and ricotta which is available with a choice of sauces to suit your taste. Specialities that are recommended are the creamy roquefort steak roll, the El Greco lamb shank roasted on the bone, and the chicken lupini – stuffed with spinach and mushrooms and covered with a creamy Madagascan pepper sauce. Traditional Italian favourites are the cubed fillet with soya and lemon herb or the liver Veneziana in an onion and white wine sauce. Don't forget to check out the weekly specials board too, and lastly remember to buy a freshly baked Italian loaf to take home to the family. We also serve bubbly by the glass.
