Posticino Italian Restaurant - Sea Point

Behind the attractive façade of an imposing building lies one of the best Italian restaurants in Cape Town. Owners Gioacchino and Enrico (Jack and Eric), have built up a faithful following of locals who feel comfortable and at home in the relaxed atmosphere, but Posticino entertains more than its fair share of tourists and celebrities due to its increasing popularity as the word gets around.

 

A spacious patio area provides plenty of outside seating for leisurely lunches under shady umbrellas, or al fresco dining on warm summer evenings when tables are at a premium. The restaurant interior is versatile with separate smoking and non-smoking sections and a bar counter where diners can have a drink whilst waiting for a table. The walls are colourful with large murals depicting country scenes which helps to create a traditional Italian ambience.

 

A wood burning oven ensures that thin based pizzas are deliciously crisp and cooked to perfection with a variety of mouth-watering toppings. Veal dishes are a speciality with Veal Marsala and Veal Parmiggiano both highly recommended and firm favourites with regulars. Pasta lovers have plenty to choose from and the Pasta Marinara with its impressive mix of clams, mussels, calamari and shrimps is a popular choice. Salads feature prominently on the menu for summer and if those listed are not to your liking the chef will gladly prepare your own combination of ingredients. Much the same can be said about the sauces which are made to order and include a good selection of traditional Italian sauces with or without cream depending on your preference.
