Well-known treasure Portuguese Taverna re-opened its doors in July 2016 with new owners, new chefs and a lip-smacking new menu and is already the talk of the town. Known for the fire and passion that goes into our food, giving it that lusty and robust flavour all come back for again and again.
The atmosphere is vibrant, lively and energetic. The staff welcoming and service excellence focused. The owners actively visible on the floor. Daily specials on meals and drinks keeps the menu exciting. Each menu item being in competition with its neighbour all equally deserving an Olympic gold medallion from the succulent Beef Espetada and Eisbein to mouth-watering Tripe and Beans, sardines, Portuguese chicken & giblets.
Portuguese Taverna originally opened almost two decades ago by a Portuguese gentleman called Jackie and is today still fondly remembered in the stories told by the regular patrons to the Taverna. As a boy from Namakwaland and a girl from the Free State, the new owners Morne and Yolandi Fourie surely plan to keep the good food, excellent service and lively vibes that Jackie started so many years ago, a certainty in the Taverna.
The menu is spiced up by daily changing specials and Gino’s live entertainment on Fridays.
