Persello is authentically Italian and its menu reflects the typical Italian favourites, cooked with fresh ingredients (not canned or preserved). Pasta portions come in large or small – perfectly tailored for those who have different sized appetites! In addition to the usual suspects such as Alfredo, carbonara, lasagne and cannelloni, there are special options such as the brinjal lasagne and the gnocchi. Other restaurant specialities include the crostoli, crisini and chicken involotini (chicken fillets rolled with bacon and sage and served with pasta, mushroom sauce and vegetables).
The wood fired pizzas are Persello’s start attraction – touted as the ‘best pizza in Knysna’ by locals. Speciality pizzas include the pomodoro and melanzane (sundried tomato, brinjal, garlic, and onion), the Persello (salami onion asparagus garlic) and the rock n’ roll (bacon, banana and avocado). You can also add any of a variety of extra toppings to create your own pizza sensation. Persello is child friendly, and offers indoor and outdoor seating – both with the same charming atmosphere.
