The Old Transvaal Inn has a vintage ambiance and is located in the centre of town. It is a historic landmark in Dullstroom and the restaurant reflects this with its traditional wood and stone interior.
New owners, Johnny and Debbie Naude took over in March 2016 and have created a cosy, family style, relaxed restaurant with good South African cuisine which also boasts exceptional value for money.
It is also the only restaurant in Dullstroom that opens at 7:30am catering for those early risers looking for one of the delicious breakfasts that the restaurant serves.
Dishes include traditional fare such as Bobotie and Rice, Beef Bredie, Pap and Mince and Boerewors Potjie. However, the menu includes many other popular dishes such as Spaghetti Bolognaise, Deep Fried Hake and Chips and Chicken Curry.
Being located in Dullstroom, Trout is of course a speciality and is served in no less than seven different dishes. For steak lovers there are also choices of Fillet, Rump and T-Bone and starters include favourites such as Stuffed Mushrooms with Spinach and Feta, Snails in Creamy Garlic Sauce, Chicken Strips and Chicken Livers. Almost every taste is catered for.
The Old Transvaal Inn Restaurant also accommodates groups and functions making it a favourite for breakfast runs and other touring groups.
