Mai Thai Sushi Restaurant in Gardens is situated at 12 Mill Street so it is easily accessible from De Waal Drive or the CBD.  Despite being an Asian Restaurant it has a lovely ambiance which is usually associated with fine dining.  The beautiful interior has lots of wood paneling and the furnishings are of a fine quality and offer a comfortable, longer dining experience.  It’s the ideal venue for those wanting a special dining experience paired with authentic Thai cuisine.  In the evening the lights are lowered and candles are lit while instrumental Asian music plays in the background.  Additionally the staff are super friendly and dedicated to offering outstanding service.

The menu offers so many delicious choices that it calls for several visits to try the selection of dishes on offer.  There are numerous Asian soups and an appetizing selection of starters ranging from Dim Sum to Spring Rolls to Chicken Satay and Fried Chicken in Seaweed.  The mains include aromatic red, green, Mussaman and Thai Jungle curry as well as Indonesian Bali Curry.  There are Thai Specials like Aromatic Crispy Duck, Thai Sesame Chicken, Sizzling Style Beef or Lamb and Imperial Stir Fry options.  There are Phad Thai Rice Noodles, Chow Mein Egg Noodles, Singapore Noodles as well as no less than six rice options ranging from Coconut Fried Rice to Sushi Rice and Thai Rice with Chicken.

On the Sushi side of things the Conveyor Belt Sushi Buffet is available every day from 1pm to 9:30pm and the cost is R169 for adults and R109 for kids.  It includes a selected free drink.  Alternatively one can opt for 50% off sushi on most of the sushi items on the menu including some delightful combos.  Some of the sushi options have fascinating names like Bomb Bomb and all the usual items are available as well as some other interesting variations.  Everything on the sushi belt was freshly prepared, beautifully displayed and larger in size than usual.
