Flames Restaurant and Bar in Bloemfontein is an out of the ordinary dining experience with a singularly diverse fusion menu and an ambience which lends itself to socialising. It was opened in March 2014 by owner Yiannis Kosmas with the vision of being the best restaurant in Bloemfontein.

The menu is, in a word, huge and diverse. It was designed by owner Kosmas himself to be the only fine dining restaurant in the north. The sushi menu alone is bigger than many sushi-only restaurants and includes unique items such as a sushi cupcake and sushi spring rolls.

For starters patrons can choose anything from Californian oysters to Greek dolmades. For mains, there is a choice of red meat (including lazy aged T-bone steak and rumps), fish, burgers, pasta, prawns or vegetarian options. There is also a menu for Greek specialities including souvlaki, moussaka and stifado and a menu for Portuguese specialities such as espetada and peri-peri chicken. The dessert menu is similarly diverse, spanning everything from baklava to Mississippi mud pie. If you can think of it, Flames has it.

Flames is an ideal place to hold an event or party, with their comprehensive ‘opa platter’ options, regular live entertainment and trendy ambience. The venue itself is modern and upmarket, with red accents, modern lighting and art deco mirrors and furnishings. It is a large venue with a high capacity and seating options include bar seating, booths and tables. Flames regularly hosts live musicians (including Greek bouzouki), charity events and cooking demonstrations. If you’re in Bloemfontein, this is an ideal venue for all occasions!
