The Carnivore Johannesburg
, adjacent to the Misty Hills Hotel is situated in natural surroundings overlooking the Krugersdorp hills. The entrance to the restaurant is by way of a thatched walkway through indigenous gardens and a spectacular water feature.
The central attraction of the restaurant is a large circular open fire with 52 converted Masaai tribal spears holding a variety of 15 different types of meat, such as pork, lamb, beef, chicken, ribs and sausages, and including such game meats as crocodile, zebra, giraffe, impala, ostrich, etc, gently roasting and waiting for you to begin your feast!!!
The meal starts with the homemade soup of the day and fresh, daily baked
honey bread. A lazy Susan is then placed on the table, with the bottom layer containing six assorted salads and the top layer holding six sauces to complement the meats. A very hot cast iron place is placed in front of you, followed by two potjiekos pots containing "pap and sauce". A baked potato is also offered.
Carvers come from the fire with the swords holding the meat and carve the cuts of your choice directly onto your plate.
We have 15 different types of meats that we offer, 10 of which is domestic and 5 venison (game). The choice of meats include lamb, beef, ribs and game meats such as crocodile, zebra, giraffe, impala, ostrich, etc.
This is followed by a choice of five different desserts, and coffee.CONFERENCE AT THE CARNIVORE!

Take the R24 to Johannesburg. Keep in the left lane, a few kms after passing under a large pedestrian bridge, you get to the Glooly’s intersection, be careful here. Take the N3 North highway to Pretoria (it takes a sharp turn to the left and spirals down to pass under the road you have just been on). You come to another large interchange - take the N1 South highway to Roodepoort, Bloemfontein. Do not take the N1 North to Pretoria or you will find yourself in Midrand. Once on the N1 South, you pass the turnoffs Rivonia Road, William Nicol and Malibongwe Drive.
Take the next one after Malibongwe Drive, Beyers Naude off ramp and turn right toward Honeydew i.e. cross over the highway you have just been on. Keep on Beyers Naude (which becomes the M5) you pass through several major intersections, the road narrows down to single lane. You will pass Garden World Nursery on the right and Oakfield Farm on your left just after the road widens, turn left into Drift Boulevard / Muldersdrift (R114). The Hotel is about 800 meters down the road on the right.
From Pretoria, take the N1 South to Johannesburg. Carry straight onto the N14 / R28 to Krugersdorp. Pass R55, R511 and Lanseria Turnoff. Take the next turnoff - M5 Zwartskop / Randburg.
