Basilico Steenberg is the sister restaurant to the popular original restaurant in Newlands. Basilico is loved for serving up simple, affordable and wholesome Italian food in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. From delicious wood-fired pizzas to gourmet salads and homemade pastas, Basilico Steenberg will live up to its predecessor’s reputation.
Basilico’s menu is authentically and deliciously Italian with hearty portions of tried and tested favourites. The top meals served at Basilico include the grilled beef fillet medallions with a double mustard and honey cream sauce, the hand crafted, wood fired pizza with bacon, onion, sliced butter mushroom and avo, the lamb shank served on a bed of mash with a hint of nutmeg and the spaghetti with prawns.
For dessert, nothing can beat Krista’s homemade chocolate cherry brownie served with double cream vanilla ice-cream. Weekly specials keep things interesting for both customers and chefs and the wine list includes Cape wines by glass and bottle, and an excellent selection of Italian regional wines.
Basilico is a bustling family bistro and popular village hangout where the owners know the names of all the regulars. With a history spanning 6 years, a fire and a love story, their main success lies in the team spirit, love and passion that are the secret ingredients in every dish that comes out of the Basilico kitchen.
