Turn 'n Tender - Illovo

Turn ‘n Tender ticked all the boxes - decent wine; great steak cooked exactly as ordered and good fries. Sat outside which get pretty covid secure. Certainly recommended.

Went there after the cricket recently with a large group. We had a selection of starters which we shared between us and were all very tasty. I then had the 300g Sirloin, done in the 'normal basting' as they call it. I wasnt aware of what that meant, but our South African friend recommended that.... Anyway it arrived in a form of dark gravy. The taste was excellent and the steak so tender....its making me hungry just typing this !I've found that British restaurants have no idea how to do steak any more sadly.So, if you love steak and are in Johannesburg for cricket or whatever, you MUST try a Turn 'n Tender. Quite simply one of the best steaks i've eatenDecent selection of South African red wine too.When are England playing cricket in Johannesburg again i ask ?

This is a wonderful Restaurant - very spacious and a relaxing atmosphere. The food was excellent and the drinks nice and cold as we asked. They serve good quality steak.

Food was tasty, staff helpfull and paid attention to the guests. The wine was way too warm and we asked for a buske of ice to cool it. All in all a good restaurant!

I normally eat spare ribs but being in Jewish neighborhood this was not an option, but what a delight when the beef were simply drop off the bone delicious

I didn’t know what to expect as I haven’t been back to South Africa in 10 years.Service was amazing. Drinks served without a glitch. Order order was taken and we had starters and then mains. Point Rump. Possibly the best steak i have had in 19 years. Restaurateurs from New Zealand should visit this establishment and learn how to age meat and prepare a dish. Amanda our server was amazing and so was very attentive. All in all this was a fantastic evening. Thanks guys

This is one of my favourite Joburg restaurants. You're always guaranteed a great meal and excellent service.The meats are excellent - try the pork or beef ribs, or a steak (with fat or no fat - your choice) with a wide range of sauces to choose from. The seafood, including dishes like hake and calamari, is also fresh and a good choice.The chips (fries) are large and delicious - in fact, the helpings in general are on the very generous side. Be sure to book - the restaurant is often packed.

Variety of good meat meals, but also something for vegetarians. Good fillet, rump, sirloin, etc, all prepared as you like it with tasty side dishes.

Being from Capetown invited with guests to go for supper to Turn 'n.Tender Ilovo Joburg. Unbeknown to us it was their anniversary lunch special R42.00 for being 42 years in business for a 300g Sirloin with a starch or vegetables. The steak was cooked to perfection and whilst thats all we had they had a very extensive menu!!! The restaurant was packed and it appeared everyone was having a good time. Will definitely go there for a meal if ever in Johannesburg gain

My favorite meat restaurant in the area.The menu is not long, the food is good, we know what we get. Simple, juicy and tender
