The Village Idiot

Recently moved to Cpt and gound this gem! This is my new favorite spit in town. Good service and guaranteed a good time! Highly recommended.

We had a cool evening at Village idiot.It started at the booking stage, when the lady booked to tables for me to be sure I would be satisfied with our table.When we arrived, I was impressed by the atmosphere of the place. Oldies and vintage items are used to decorate the place. The leather couches and the soft lighting give a warm ambiance.We have been offered a free wine tasting and had the Thursday special which was quite a good deal.The meat was good, but we were a bit disappointed by the fish and chips.We had an excellent evening there...

Decent club, but cost 100rand per person to bribe the bouncer to get in. Then got cornered after leaving the toilet 3 hours later by 1 member of staff who kept closing the door eveey time i tried to leave. Then was joined by 2 other members of staff, but managed to scramble out the small toilet area to the main area. Waited for them outside to be falsey accused of being with another male in toilet (after money). I was really confused as the bouncers accent was really hard to understand, but he was the same one we bribed to get quick entry. Verdict: decent tunes, beware of the staff. From a brit.

A friend of my daughter recommended this Bar and we weren’t disappointed. Very lively friendly atmosphere. We went earlish on a Friday night for something to eat and got a table very easily but other tables were reserved so I’d recommend booking. We had a starter & main each and a couple of cocktails and the bill was just over 550 rands (£30) so we found it amazing value for money. I would definitely recommend The Village Idiot

Good food , bar scene.......starts of as bar we decent food but ends up as nightclub later in the day.We had a good meal then stayed for drinks, got pretty lively and we would have stayed longer but the air con was on too low and was very cold.Decent bar.

Nice place but we were very ill afterwards due to food poising :(( We had to see a doctor and we are still feeling bad

While we did not get to have a meal at the venue, we thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, the ambience and the "vibe" of The Village Idiot. Would love to go back and this time around, have one of the meals everyone is raving about.

We had fabulous steaks, with drinks and excellent service. It was quiet when we went in but quickly filled up. We booked so we wouldn’t be disappointed. The music was excellent and we would go back

How can you go wrong? 2 mains and a nice bottle of wine for 300 rand (Tuesdays only). Good service too.Highly recommended.

You know it’s a boisterous, fun place as soon as you walk in the door. Eccentrically decorated, it’s got a cozy vibe that doesn’t take itself seriously. There’s a nice outdoor patio on the second floor and the staff is very nice, though a tad slow with service.I had a local fave, the Bunny Chow, and it was decent, while others had the wings which were also good. We drank wine, which was tasty, and the bill was fair. The location is good too. You really can’t go wrong with this place.
