The Royal Oak Pub & Restaurant

Seeing the pub lunch daily specials we decided to give it a try today. Well worth the effort. We sat outside where we were at least a meter away and smoking is allowed except for in the enclosed bar area. Had the liver and mash special, quite a generous portion and the beer battered fish and chips. Service was good and so was the food. Will definitely support local pub again.

Glad to see the friendly vibe & the regulars back at the Royal Oak since the new owners rescued it & have revamped the place from top to bottom.Now a pleasure to enter with a clean, airy feel & no more sticky carpets.All new toilets are sparkling clean.Also the new solid oak bar looks fantastic.Food is back to how it used to be. Prices have dropped & finally you can get a proper All Day English Breakfast till 15h00.

Think of the very worst aspects of a grotty UK housing estate pub then transport it to an industrial estate in Cape Town and what you have is the Royal Oak.An absolute toilet.

Visited one of our local haunts when we are in Cape Town, last time we visited was around 12 months ago, the bar staff were friendly and good fun and the pub grub good. However our visit today turned everything on its head. Evidently new owners have been in place for 6 weeks. usually, the place was full of people eating or having a casual drink, today there were very few eating. We found a table and had to ask for service. the young lady came from behind the bar we first asked for a beer shandy and had a blank expression back, instructions were given on how to make, in the end, re-ordered with the request for a coke, a beer and a rock shandy also ordered. The Rock Shandy was nothing like a rock shandy, the Angustaura Bitters was non-existent it was like plain lemonade, all in all, a disaster so far. We ordered food Mac & Cheese, fish and chips and cottage Pie. The Mac Cheese was dry & stodgy, the fish was tasteless, the Cottage Pie was ok. Such a shame the place has lost its vibe, it had atmosphere in the past but it is just flat and soulless, it needs bar staff who know what they are doing, its bad when simple drinks cant be served.

Worst Sunday Lunch experience, we booked in advance during the week to book a table for 5 as was told the Sunday Lunch was value for money and food was a traditional english favorite my hubby is British, well the Yorkshire puddings were over baked and slightly on the burnt side and rock hard, we waited quite long for our food which the waiter apologized for but when we got it was cold we just ate it as we were hungry, then we ordered dessert were told the only option for dessert is apple pie with ice-cream, cream or custard, so we all order one then we told sorry we don’t have anymore Apple pie can we offer you malva pudding so we all disappointed and say ok we will have malva pudding which was not offered as a choice in the first place only to receive a bite size piece of pudding and then told sorry we don’t have anymore cream - Anyways, we will not eat there again, maybe they should not offer lunch if they cannot plan catering for the amount of people booked, very very disappointed

wow i don't even know how to describe this place, it is a Pub (English folk will love it) the vibe is amazing, the staff are so welcoming,and at the moment we have only checked out the breakfast, but wow everything on the plate was perfect, the only thing was the bacon was a little under for me (but i could have asked and they would have accomodated) but the missus loved it, overall and you can find it on our blog it, is such an amazing pub and i would recommend it anyone visiting the area

Lucky enough to go to Blouberg reasonably often to visit family. Always make sure we book accommodation nearby to enjoy the ambience of this pub/ diner/ restaurant. If you’re expecting food within two minutes, go to a takeaway, if you want freshly cooked food, sit down, have a drink and listen to some very interesting banter between the locals and visitors. Try the hake, damned good, if you’re an old codger like me that still eats liver, try the liver, you’ll be amazed. Great pub, you don’t get English pubs in England anymore, or very few traditional ones like this one. Want to recall the old traditional English pub?, visit this pub!

Small and well supported by the local "pommie' crowd so seating can be a problem. Good atmosphere and with typical pub food [eg Cottage Pie]. We enjoyed the repartee among the locals.

We love this place, it's our home from home in Tableview.If you want to meet good friends, have good beer and generally have a good night out this is the place.You are always made to feel welcome.

The royal oak pub is a typical english pub. From the smallest detail, like beer coasters, to the friendliness of the bar keeps, its really awesome. If you dont want to do a bar or a club, this is the place for you. Its relaxed, easy going and amazing. Plus they sometimes give you a taster of their pizzas which is fantastic
