Stephward Restaurant & Tea Garden

Went to look at the variety of exotic plants, and a tour by Howard of the shade houses. Loads of fancy stuff but just where to put it all? But we bought a lot of new plants

My friend and I attended Ugu Jazz Festival 2019 and we spent the weekend at Stephward Estate Guest House. We received a warm welcome from both the owners and staff. They are warm and friendly people. One of the owners took us to our room and showed us how everything worked. The room was spacious and I liked it, however, there was spider web on the roof fan and lights. Again I was disappointed to notice that the bed linen had some spots on it of which I'm not sure whether it was stubborn spots who won't come out or it was not washed.

A wonderful hidden gem on the KZN South Coast, the setting is beautiful and the food is of the highest standers.

We booked for lunch. They have a very reasonably priced set menu or you can have A le Carte. We chose the set menu with a choice of 3 soups, pork roast with rice, roast potatoes and 2 veggies and then a dessert. We ate outside round the pool which was nice and cool. The service was very efficient and pleasant and the food was tasty. Both Stephen and Howard were very easy going and nice. A pleasant afternoon.

Earlier the week we popped into the exotic nursery, not your everyday nursery and you get an amazing tour by either Stephan or Howard.Stephan took us on the tour and his knowledge was mind blowing and the variety of plant species he has got me so excited.We then decided to join there 3 Course Sunday lunch, stunning food, great service and such a homely venueStephan and Howard you put so much love and care into your venue this makes it a magical place to visitThank you for sharing it with us, we will be back soon cause I need to try the camembert

I say hidden treasure, because we accidentally ended up there. Wow what a wonderful place it is. Beautiful garden with one of a kind plants. The restaurant is full of amazing artifacts. Will definitely go back to try their food. If you are a plant of garden lover this is a must on to do list!

Howard showed us around their impressive orchid nursery and Stephen gave us an excellent chat about the various types of Hoya plants they have.Also took a walk around their property which includes a quaint chapel . Had cappuccinos and tea close to their swimming pool,which were good . Will visit again

Upon arrival we were welcomed by Howard. After a tour of the stunning gardens and some refreshments on the pool deck, Howard took us on a tour of the exotic plants nursery. What an unique experience! Howard's knowledge and passion is beyond compare and his enthusiasm is very contagious. (We ended spending more on plants than we ever anticipated!)

Visited on a Sunday and had their Sunday special lunch which consisted of either tomatoe soup or ice cream and chocolate source and the mail meal was roast beef, rice and vegetables for R95, which is outstanding value. The food was excellent. Had our meal right next to the swimming pool, which was great. They have a very large orchid nursery which is well worth visiting.A great experience.

I just love this setting. It's like a quaint older lady settling into a comfortable middle age spread. A little worn around the edges but with oh so much character!! The service has been excellent every time I have been there. Wonderful waitress , so friendly and knowledgeable. Delightful owners who always make time for a chat and a varied menu. The first place I take friends visiting the South Coast.
