Simon's Restaurant at Groot Constantia

We have been coming to Simon's for a number of years now and it never fails to please us. It has been recently re-vamped to a very high standard, with expensive fittings, chandeliers etc. but retained a reasonable price range of food and wines. Very well worth a visit. West coast mussels and salt and pepper calamari are excellent, but the sweet of home made carrot cake was just divine!

Popped into Simons for an early Sunday lunch after a walk in the vineyards. Wonderful cosy atmosphere with friendly helpful staff. Great food, Prego chicken will put most Portuguese eateries to shame. Beers are icecold and served in a frosted glass, always a great indicator. Wiil definitely be back.

Very poor food. Peri peri chicken thighs had been boiled so had awful congealed fatty skin. The fish cakes were bland and tasteless. Absolute waste of money

This is the only bad meal I have had in Cape Town this week. I ordered a steak and it was over cooked the first time and undercooked the second. No offer to discount the expensive meal. I left hungry!

We were looking for a Mother's Day venue and having walked her dogs past the restaurant a few weeks ago, my sister suggested we try Simon's again. From the time I booked to when we arrived, their service was impeccable. Confirmed booking via sms, phonecall on Saturday confirming the booking, and then a reminder sms yesterday morning. I requested outside seating under the trees next to the entrance and sure enough we were seated exactly there (so many times requests get ignored). The restaurant has new owners and has undergone a complete transformation - it is magical and extremely beautiful. The menu has such an incredible selection and different choices for everyone. The wine list is awesome and being Mother's Day we chose the Groot Constantia Rose. Service by our waiter was outstanding - he brought an ice bucket for my flowers without me asking. We took our time ordering - enjoying a family catch-up and the waiter let us take our time. After deliberating for so long, we ordered two butter chicken curries (pronounced delicious by my curry-loving daughter) which came with rice and a roti, two beef burgers (my husband didn't talk once when eating ) with thin, cripsy chips and two grilled hake. I haven't had a hake dish so delicious. The fish was served on beautifully cooked vegetables and baby potatoes and then covered with a sublime lemon butter sauce. The portions are all generous. Two chocolate mousses were only just managed.It was such an incredible afternoon that we can't wait to go back.Thank you Simon's for making my Mother's Day lunch absolutely special.

Very good service and a quality wine list. The menu is well priced and our choice of chicken burger, butter chicken curry, mushroom linguine and artichoke linguine was well presented, excellent tasting and very well priced. Our waiter was very attentive as was the manager. Back soon. PS dogs welcome in the outdoors area.

absolutely stunning, scenic, tranquil setting on this Groot Constantia wine farm at the Simons Restaurant. Excellent Tasty food, good service and discovered their Carb Free, Sugar Free Beer.

My friend and I attended an event in the upstairs area. The new decor is absolutely beautiful. The weather was a bit fresh, but with the huge fireplace burning downstairs and outdoor fires on the large balcony, where the views are magnificent, it was very comfortable. We were welcomed with some Groot Constantia Bubbly (delicious), the food was outstanding and the views breathtaking.

Went with friends for a Sunday picnic and personally felt that the picnic basket was poor value for money. The picnic area is also quite small, situated on a slant and right next to the parking area.
