Pomodoro - Wilderness

Pomodoro used to be our favourite restaurant and we would take the short drive from Knysna every month or two to enjoy a leisurely pizza lunch. After today's visit, Pomodoro is definitely off the cards though. When waitrons (or was it the runner?) ignore basics such as cutlery, condiments and the like - even after you have placed your order and received your drinks - things can only go south. I had to ask three different members of staff for cutlery and condiments, which eventually arrived more than 10 minutes later, by which time our pizza was cold. I pointed out the poor service to our waiter, who just just shrugged his shoulders. I also pointed out the poor service to the supervisor - who was semi-apologetic - and asked for our bill. After waiting another 10 minutes I went to the front desk to pay. Lo and behold, our bill still hadn't even been rung up. As for our waiter's attitude when he stuck the speedpoint under my nose - unforgiveable.

We stopped for lunch. Friendly and warm welcome and staff despite difficult times. Unfortunately, when it comes to pizza, you'd expect more from an Italian restaurant, especially if the owner is Italian...and so am I. The dough has absolutely nothing to do with a pizza dough. There is no point in using a very good topping if the dough is so disappointing.

Yummy and relaxed - we enjoyed a fabulous meal while basking in the sun. Highly recommend. We have the tortellini, foccacia and a pizza. Gelato also delicious.

Maybe one out of a few true Italian Restaurants in SA: EVERYTHING was just Perfect: thin and really good pizza dough, fresh toppings, good vibes in an authentic Italian style restaurant, not to forget: Iris (my waitress) and also her colleges are highly professional and committed. You will be feeling very well looked after and satisfied! Thanks for that treat!

Always a great experience , service friendly and professional.... food delicious. Great to be served by staff who interact with customers in a friendly manner and know when to join in the banter etc. I had chicken salad, good healthy option, tasty. Rest of meals were pasta and pizza with the pasta meals receiving raves .... highly recommended. Always a good night out.

Apart from good food and amazing atmosphere what i enjoyed most was the service. I had Jessica as my waitress and she made feel so comfortable and welcome that i just wanted to stay for dinner.Congratulations to the management employment policy they really know how to pick their waiters. It was my second time at the restaurant and my first experience was equally good and this time i was served Liani who also made me feel special.

Our waitress Liani, was amazing and made our whole night something special, she really made it one of the best meals we had while in Wilderness, the restaurant is lucky to have such great waitress. The food was delicious and the restaurant has a great atmosphere.

THE BEST pizza on the planet. Great setting and service. Will drive from CT every now again for lunch at the Pomodoro

Food was excellent. I had pasta and my hubby had pizza. We shared a lovely bottle of red wine, Rosso from Cape Town.Definitely will be back.

The hotel where we stayed in George recommended Pomodoro for dinner. We were not disappointed with the recommendation. Again, our visit was during increased Covid restrictions during the alcohol ban which was a shame. Even though the restrictions were in place the restaurant was buzzing and it was clear that this is a favorite for all, locals and holidaymakers. The owner was moving around greeting customers and checking if they needed anything else, which was a nice touch. The food was amazing, even the plain pasta with butter that my 4-year-old ordered was amazing, he never finishes a meal and ordered two servings. We were seated near the kitchen and could hear the great atmosphere between all the staff, which was great and a nice touch as well. It's clear that all the staff and the senior management team take pride in what they deliver here, it's rare to see this but well done to the owner, you have a unique restaurant and a great offer for your customers. Will recommend it to others for sure and return on our next visit to Wilderness.
