“A farm-fresh family affair!”
We were attracted to this restaurant for its family-orientated farmstyle environment. It boasts a wacky playground and a diesel train-ride for the littlies. Unfortunately due to the cold, windy weather, we could not enjoy any of the outdoor activities, much to the disappointment of my youngest daughter! However, the cozy indoor space, together with an appropriate comfort-food menu, that includes pizzas, burgers, pastas, various grills, snack baskets; and of course, farm-style breakfasts(served until 11:30am); provided the perfect heart-warming environment; much-needed for one of the coldest weekends in the Eastern Cape!Within the restaurant there is a small farmstall of farm-fresh produce, breads, home-made jams, sauces, biscuits and cakes, as well as a gift shop of hand-crafted soaps, jewelery, kitchen crafts, bags, and a few clothing items. We devoured the 1kg succulent, perfectly-crisped Eisbein served with sauerkraut and chips; and together with a blue cheese and sun-dried tomato salad (we substituted the biltong with sun-dried tomato), this made a perfect meal for myself and my 3 children. The salad was generously packed with blue cheese and preserved fig; and the blue cheese dressing, which we requested on the side, even had pieces of blue cheese in it. The service was prompt, efficient and friendly. There is a good coffee-speciality and other hot drinks selection, as well as a well-stocked bar. A lovely outing for the whole family, preferably on a warm windless day!
