“Not as good as it used to be”
The first time we visited PRON the food was delicious. However, I was rather disappointed this time. I don't eat red meat so there was not a lot to choose from. I finally ordered the fried chicken rice, the dry fried beans and the bread. The bread did not disappoint but the beans were very, very salty and not as tasty as the first time we had them. And the rice was very, very dry and salty. I asked for soy sauce and of course it was then even saltier. The other three guests enjoyed their food.

“Delicious, amazing, wonderful!”
I love Chinese food. In London, I often go to a traditional Chinese restaurant for their delicious dim sum and pecking duck, and I struggle to find places abroad that serve food that rivals the one i've found at home. PRON was SUCH as lovely surprise. I'd been raving about dimsum to my partner for ages, who'd never had some before, and so we decided to rock up for diner last night. The staff was lovely - Kuku (i hope i've spelt this correctly) was a very welcoming, sweet and helpful waitress, and during the meal the owner/manager came to ask how to food was and if everything was alright. You can see attention for customers is really important. Service was quick and food arrived in good time - restaurant was busy as well so well impressed! The location - beautiful red Chinese lamps hang from the ceiling, the atmosphere is very relaxed and diner is candlelit ! Very pleasant. And now...the food. I've been in Johannesburg for just over a month now, and although we've been to some nice places, I've struggled to find it better than what we cook at home. Well, PRON took me home. It took me back to the kilos of dimsum eaten in London with my mum and brother, to the biweekly lunches we'd have at our favourite Chinese. Honestly, the food was delicious last night. the dimsum were flagrant and full of flavour, the stirfrys delicious and the the small dishes as well. My boyfriend was besides himself with excitement, and it was honestly a great experience from start to finish. We will most definitely be back, and we cannot recommend this place more! Thank you for a truly wonderful meal.

“Quirky, authentic and delicious- oh my!”
PRON is the most stunning gem in the heart of Linden, serving incredibly authentic and delicious dishes. You won't find oily sweet-and-sour chicken here, rather food true to the roots of the owner. Upon arrival, the decor immediately piques your senses with a display of different lunar new-year animal figurines and white-rabbit sweet paraphernalia.Service can be a bit slow, but this is a restaurant to enjoy and should be savoured, so the occasional wait does not detract from the experience. Starting off with some tapas (especially the hand-break bread!) or some piping hot dim-sum and a cocktail is just sublime. Share a bowl (or three) of the divine noodles. Be sure to try the Beef Flank Soup Noodles or the Chashao Pork Soup Noodles.Overall, PRON is one of my personal favourite restaurants. The eccentric decor, friendly owner (who will always help piece together a divine menu for the table) and honest-to-goodness food brings me back every time.

“Fabulous food”
I haven't visited this restaurant before but I popped in on Saturday and was impressed. Interesting menu, good service and tasty food. All round it was a winner. I had beef noodles but there was a wonderful array of dishes for sharing among groups.

“Delicious!”
My daughter and I had lunch here. It was definitely different from the usual Chinese food. A novel experience! The owner made sure that we were well looked after and made suggestions for choices. We had the chicken potstickers, the dry fried beans (absolutely delicious), Chinese bread and the spicy chicken and noodles. I could have had just beans and bread.

“Walked Out”
We have been hankering to try this for a while. We went in to a mostly-empty restaurant but trying to get one of the several waiters standing around to show us to a table made it feel like we were interrupting them. Grumpily, we were shown a table - a poorly placed one - and when we asked for another table I could see the lady mentally rolling her eyeballs. After we sat down, took another 5 minutes for a menu to appear. By then, I had had enough so we walked out and had a fab meal at the Fat Zebra two shops down. Clearly, the owner of this business is absent. It is a joyless place with no atmosphere. If I ran my business like this, I would not have one for very long.

“Traditional Chineese, superb food”
This is definitely the best Chinese restaurant we have visited in SA. Wide choice of tapas, dim sum and noodles. We have ordered couple of each and also could not resist to take more home. Each meal tastes differently, unlike in most of the “Chinese” restaurants around. Bread is delicious, so as kim chi. Balanced taste of each single meal. Also nice owner who explains all about their offer and recommends dishes according to guests’ preferences.

“Delicious.”
A favourite of ours. Their cold summer noodle dish (which is not on the menu but made on request) is outstanding. It consists of handmade noodles with cucumber in a soya and garlic sauce. I have it with beef while another family member has it with tofu. It is delectable. Their dumplings are also delicious. We love their hand made bread too. Their dishes are different and delicious. Service is friendly. The owner is a wonderful hostess. Often full so reservations are recommended.

“People's Republic Of Noddles - PRON”
Went to PRON for a delicious lunch - and it was lovely. We had a combination of dumplings, noodles, beef, short rib and pop-sticks and every dish was enjoyed and finished. The service was quick out of the kitchen and the staff helpful with the owner very charming and engaged.Pricing was fair - 5 people R850 without tip.

I had been excited to try Pron for a while and was ecstatic when a friend and I finally got a chance to go. However I was sadly disappointed by the food. The restaurant is awesomely decorated and I love the modern Chinese vibe they are going for, but I was expecting the food to be a bit more authentic and delicious especially for the high prices you're paying.
The starters we ordered from the tapas menu were the best thing we had that night. The chicken with red chilli oil was spicy and flavoursome, and it paired really well with the hand baked bread.
The mains we had were disappointing. I really came in with the expectation of authentic Chinese with a modern twist, but the noodle dishes we had were bland and unexciting. We had the bean paste beef noodles on recommendation of the waitress and the dandan pork. Both dishes were basically flavoured mince on top of bland egg noodles with a few veg thrown in. Would much rather go to Cyrildene in future.
