“Lovely post lockdown surprise”
Food was good, company a bit too loud. Family if 4 youngest is 6 eldest on their 40’s every single one of us was satisfied with our meals. Although menu was limited the restaurant had run out of some of the limited menu items including...vanilla ice cream??????? but it was a welcome outing post lock downMore

“Just Amazing!”
This past Sunday was my daughters 3rd birthday party. We had planned a party in a park at the foot hills of the mountain, but the morning of, the weather had other plans. With wind speed predictions of up to 80kms per hour and rain...we had to make a plan. Knowing that they had an indoor play area, I called up Primi in sea point and spoke to Dora-Anne (hope I spelled that correctly), the restaurant manager. When she heard our situation, without hesitation, told us to come through and with no mention of money or deposit or anything, which is rare these days, we only discussed the bill when we asked for it. When we got there she had cordoned off an entire section of the restaurant for our party and we were assigned 2 of the most attentive and helpful waiters, Tich and Privilege. There was also a child minder/super hero Nosi who I saw dive to save a child from being knocked over by a swing , twice. The whole thing went off without a hitch. Thank you so much for accommodating us at such short notice and for the great service. You guys are just amazing.More

“Tasteless, bland Italian food”
My wife and I both felt like pasta so we tried Primi Piatta since they used to make good Italian food. My wife ordered Linguine e Pesto and I ordered Spaghetti Carbonara - two basic traditional Italian pastas.
My wife's Linguine e Pesto was tasteless,...comprising noodles in a thick green sauce with two slices of cheese (not 'shavings'). Since this is a favourite of hers, she had eaten this dish at many other restaurants, several of which do not even purport to be strictly "Italian". She said this was the worst Pesto pasta she had ever eaten.
My Carbonara dish was equally tasteless. Admittedly the previous version I had eaten was a fantastic dish in Rome, Italy, but even the earlier versions I had in South African restaurants were good. However, this dish comprised plain spaghetti, several small chunks of bacon, pieces of spring onions and some insipid liquid underneath on the plate - a combination that bore no resemblance to the tasty dish that Spaghetti Carbonara should be.
And to add insult to injury, no spoon was provided with the Spaghetti!
We came early on Christmas Eve and were surprised to find that we were the only patrons downstairs with one or two other tables occupied upstairs. Naturally, there was one screaming child upstairs. (Normally there is an unbearable din of shouting and screaming from the children's play area upstairs.)
This time the service was average but the previous evening my wife ordered a cappuccino which did not arrive after 15 minutes of watching the barrister clean the coffee making machine. So service when reasonably busy, is not a strong point here.
All told, it has been a while since we ate at this branch of Primi Piatti and it will be even longer before we eat here again, if ever.More

“A Slight Disappointment”
We visited the restaurant over the weekend and the best part was being able to watch the Springboks play! Our waiter was friendly and helpful. The portions are generous and delicious but unfortunately my dish indicated a lot of avo and I had to ask...for more as it did not look anything like the photograph. The white wine was warm and we were expected to use ice.More
