Old North Pub & Restaurant on Karibu

We went here for a quick lunch and it was quietish. Hot day so we sat outside and luckily there was a breeze blowing. My wife had fish and salad and I the samoosa basket washed down with a few beers.

We joined good friends to watch rugby and enjoy a great evening. The service was great, served by a very knowledgeable and friendly waiter. The food was perfectly adequate and the drinks kept coming. A lot of fun for all who were there.

Visited this bar on a Saturday afternoon while on holiday with my wife and staying with family at Salt Rock.The guys went to watch rugby but I was far more interested in the great, convivial atmosphere and the English football scores on my phone! Really enjoyed our visit - great Windhoek draft beer plus many others, spoke to many locals plus 3 Wales rugby fans at the bar . I can imagine Old North will be buzzing during rugby World Cup ( come on England)!! Staff extra friendly and efficient , and Diane the landlady made us feel super welcome! One of the staff doing an impromptu song was also a highlight! Take away pizzas also superb- look forward to coming next year!

Stopped for a light bite to eat, in this eating establishment that depending on where you sit has great views over a small dam and children's play area.Although only about a third full, we waited an extraordinary time for our order to arrive. When it did the item on the menu " Cheesy Garlic Roll" was a generous size with plenty of cheese BUT NO Garlic. Like asking for a chicken mayonnaise sandwich without chicken !However staff were very obliging and a small dish of crushed garlic was quickly supplied. It went down well as did the other dishes ordered. The potato hot chips were fresh and tasty - not oily or greasy at all.Although we waited a long time, the quality of the food dissipated the time waited, and we will be back - certainly to try the Sunday lunch. By the looks of the plates of food that went past us to another table, this is an establishment we would like to come back to.

During the last month we have been to this restaurant several times. The main pub overlooks a dam which has kids facilities by the dozen. The service is outstanding and the grub, mostly pub style, is tasty. We like this place for the friendly atmosphere and will go back.

for the first time in 20 years, I did not have to work on the first of January and decided to go to Karibu for Lunch with my wife. the best decision I made in a long time. Diane created a new menu (very Nice) and the drink service was excellent as always. the quality of food was fantastic and entertainer the absolute best. a bit of Irish for lunch always goes down well. Diane don't change anything you got it taped. Well done. Michelle and I be back soon.

I have been going to Karibu for just under a year now and I can say this place is amazing great food cold beer good wines friendly staff ( they are super cool staff). the owner is a darling and cares for all her guests. very peaceful setting great renew one's energy. i will be going back and back and back

On arrival, the first appearance is not great as the exterior is pretty run down.There was a lovely kids play area that includes a jungle gym, swings, jumping castle and dam which kept our party's kids occupied the whole time we were there.As the inside of the restaurant is very smokey (the smoking section wraps around the whole restaurant and the smoke just pours inside), we sat at the tables down near the lake. Even though we were far from the bar and kitchen, the service was great and we never had to wait unreasonably long for anything.All our meals were good, with the ribs and the hake being particularly delicious.

If you are looking for great food. Value for money. Ice cold beer. Fantastic service. A week without going to old north is not complete. The burger is a monster and delicious. Try the Nachos . Order the half portion . You will battle to finish. Order your beer as a draft or Quart. Yum. Always book as it is always full outside. It has a lovely view over a dam.
