A well-done steak burger comprised a strange white fibrous pulp - raw, possibly fish? - served cold. Refried over-salted soggy potato wedges were topped off by a completely unbaked apple crumble tart with raw dough which we rolled into balls for the trout.Beautiful view, surly manager could not find our reservation amongst the 5 on his guest list. My heart went out to the wedding guests alongside usTo be avoided

“Pleasant but needs smartening up”
Pleasant lunch today but, no one knew about wheelchair toilet, items not on menu yet on web, milkshakes, pizzas etc, no steak knife delivered and a whopping R35 for a small Appletiser ?

“The best place to be in The Cradle”
We love going here! Excellent service and a very tasty (small) menu.We have been there on a few occasions, and every time we were treated like VIPs. (I suppose your own attitude plays a big part in the way you are treated...)The menu is compact, as a bistro should be. But the breakfast is something out of this world. Fresh, tasty and with just a little bit of cheekiness - lovely! The wait staff will go out of their way to accommodate you and we are getting used to being treated like old friends there. The milkshakes on the menu should be experienced. It is huge and absolutely delicious. I believe they call it a Freakshake? Anyway, get the strawberry one. oh wow...And of course one cannot review this place without mentioning the view. the dams and the mountains form the perfect backdrop to a highly enjoyable experience.I fully recommend Oevermeer. Good food, great waiters and an excellent menu, makes this the place to be - and it is less than an hour from Johannesburg CBD.

Boschie, General Manager at Oevermeer Bistro, responded to this review.
Hi Jan KThank you for your positive feedback and recommendation. Jimmy and the Oevermeer Team aim to please, and your comments are a great reward. The kitchen brigade tries their best, and most of the time succeed in serving food as good as the view. Thanks again, and we are looking forward to welcoming you back soon!

“Birthday”
That was such a disappointment. The service was extremely slow....we had to wait for the drinks..had to look for our waiter. The Hamburger was dry . Cajun chicken dry and overcooked. Chicken arrived about 10 minutes later than the other meals. The scenery was beautiful but the meals a huge disappointment. Will never recommend or go back to Oevermeer.

“21 st lunch.”
Had a Sturday family lunch for my daughters 21 st birthday. We chose the platter menu which included salads to start, various mains and delicious desserts. The food was beautifully laid our and tasty. Service was great even though we were a party of 16 persons. The bistro offers Ernie Els wines which are very good and well priced as their house wine. I would normally rate this as 4 star venue but the setting and wonderful views makes this a 5 star venue. They will definately see us again.

“Relaxing afternoon drinks on the river”
This is a relaxing restaurant which offers a cozy inside with fireplace or a lovely afternoon on the deck, overlooking kloofzicht dam. Food was good, service was good

“Quite place for a mid-week lunch - fantastic food and excellent service”
Surprise visit as it was our intention to eat at the nearby Biddon Bistro, but this was appalling in appearance with no one about. Complete contrast at the Oevermeer Bistro - we had to go through security gate (side if we had reservation so may need to check in future) - guard allowed us to drive through down long winding road leading to picturesque lakeside lodge complex , conference centre and spa buildings. Bistro overlooks the fishing lake with nice outdoor eating area.Excellent choice of menu - food well presented and excellent value - we will be back

“Great view and Breakfast”
Overlooking a dam and a mountain range, with views from its manicured grounds of Kloofzicht Lodge in Muldersdrift. Oevermeer Bistro is a sight to behold, with food to match! The view that meets you is mind blowing. The service and professionalism is on point as well. Prices are pretty fair, well presented too.

“Relaxed Lunch!”
Beautiful view from the deck of the bistro while enjoying lunch. Good service, Alfredo is good, meat platter very good, burgers very nice with hand-cut fries, meat pizza not so good, it has whole meatballs on the base.
