Ocean Basket - Ushaka Island

The food was delicious and our waitress was so efficient and friendly that it was a pleasure to enjoy our meal. It's good to have a chane in the menue and that "old traditions" were kept.

Found this place quite by accident and were not disappointed. The seafood was fresh and delicious, the rosé properly chilled, the salad fresh and service wonderful.

A bustling restaurant with friendly staff on the ocean. I had a mixed plate of prawns, white fish and calamari with chips and rice (half and half option). All were delicious, especially the prawns.Everyone finished their food which is a good sign; even the people with the huge plate of sushi.

The food is fresh and delicious. Although the service is a bit slow, the waiters are somewhat friendly and helpful...food comes in large portions too!!

Visited one near Durban North. Service was very good, food was great, we had sushi and fish platter for two, very nice and large portions. One of our favourites to visit.

Yesterday I visited the Ocean Basket and ordered a portion of King Prawns, though friendly, the waiter did not deliver them until half an hour later minus any cutlery. 10 minutes later the cutlery came by which time of course the food was cold. I declined the offer of having it reheated and requested a fresh dish. 20 minutes later came an apology. No more Prawns. So reluctantly ordered the Kingclip which was just off tepid on arrival some 30 minutes later. By the time I had finished some 2 hours had passed and by now fuming suggested that they reflect this cockup in the bill. No such luck. I asked for the manager who came by with the waiter and after listening to my grievances told me a bunch of nonsense about time taken to prep and cook the dish (45minutes ) that he could not make any reduction because of “company policy “ so I left in disgust. If you have a whole evening to waste and don’t mind average food and the lousiest service then this place is for you. Good luck!!!!! The Ocean Basket takes the biscuit.

Our family (2 adults and 2 young children) went to Ocean Basket after a day on Durban beach and really enjoyed the food. The cost for all of us was just over 500ZAR, which we felt was reasonable. The service was excellent, very friendly and accommodating. They have a children's indoor play arena on the upper floor so you can enjoy a meal whilst the children play. The restaurant is on the beach front and we managed to get a table with sea views which was lovely. I would highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner with or without children.

Ocean Basket at uShaka is one of our favourite places to eat out, especially when it comes to seafood. Their service is friendly and quick, the seafood is succulent and never overdone. Can get a bit windy on the outside, so I would rather sit inside. Highly recommended place for good seafood.

Attentive service, view and sunshine but protected from weather. Always enjoy the hake special. Glad ptheyre encouraging customers to be wise choosers

A wide range of fresh seafood. Excellent variety and well presented. MMM Tasty! Something for the whole family. Tasty, good service and good prices. Plenty of open air safe parking.
