Ocean Basket - Sea Point

I ordered 300g Kingklip with chips. I ask the waiter if it's one piece of Fish or little pieces. I was told one piece from the middle. When it arrived it was 3 pieces. It was tough, dry, stringy and over cocked. I even doubt it was Kingklip. Possibly baby Klingklip which is a cheeper version. I mentioned my experience to the waiter. On the way out he said the Chef apologised.

I had the big sushi plate, it was very good, big portion of wasabi ! You can buy whine in the carafe, so you are not forced to buy the bottle. Definitely a good deal

The seafood was amazing, we took the seafood platter for 2 and the fried prawns... both fresh and very tasty. The recommended wine completed the nice meal. The service was very friendly. We will gladly come again.

Comprehensive fish menu and some of the dishes and platters that we saw coming from the kitchen looked very appealing. We both had the whitebait and calamari to start which was very good, We followed with hake and chips which was good but not the best we’ve had.

Six of us went on a Wednesday evening at about 7.45pm and the place was full. We decided to wait and 20 minutes later a table was prepared. All the meals were of good quality and the prices were very reasonable. The staff were pleasant and the service was good. The location is in a commercial street in a small shopping centre so no views to talk about. Easy to park on the side streets.

full of children out with their parents- made place quite noisy.the service was good, but the 2 fish we chose were both off, so had to settle for catch of the day-unfortunately this was tastless and only rescued by additional side dishes.

We having the best family times in the friendly seafood restaurant "ocean basket". The food is great and the staff on point.i will recommend their food an hospitality.

I was really looking forward to this meal as I live in Nairobi which until just recently had an Ocean Basket. It was one of my fav places in Nairobi to get calamari and fish and chips, one of the big reasons was this lemony, garlic cream sauce that was served with everything. To my huge disappointment not only was this sauce served but there was no sauce served other than some what I think was tartar. The calamari is still the best, but having no sauce other than tartar, which no one dips calamari in, was disappointing. The fish and chips were also just ok, the batter was disappointing from how I had it in Nairobi and was just a let down.service was great tho

Perhaps its unfair to judge a restaurant on the basis of how it appears on a windy cape town night, but this felt a dismal, shabby place lacking in atmosphere. Some of the food on offer was really good (oysters and prawns) but the hake was dry and over-cooked. Service was good, and its handy having parking so easily accessible but the place needs an overhaul..

From Sushi to platters of fish, Ocean Basket tends never to disappoint, especially when you are started off with some nice ciabatta (If you are lucky), and 3 arrangements of toppings (Don't forget to add Balsamic and Oil).. Patters for 1 could feed 2 and sushi , although not the widest selection gives you fresh Sushi..
