Ocean Basket - Hermanus

We are regular OB customers at several other branches and always eat well and leave feeling cheerful and satisfied. The meal at this branch was edible but not very good with surprisingly small portions. The interior of the restaurant is unattractively under-decorated and the space is noisy. The cheerful waiter informed us that the beer we ordered was out of stock. We had to ask for several items such as ice, serviettes, salt and the salad came to the table long after the meals were served. We left in an unhappy frame of mind.

My husband and I had the worst service and meals ever at your restaurant last night - 19 March 2021. The service was slow (the people at the table next to us arrived after us and got their drinks before us. Our chips were half raw and dripping in oil. My rice was sticking together. The top up halloumi, which is very pricey for only two pieces, was thrown in the pan with my calamari and the tartar sauce looked like it had been standing around for ages as it had dried out on top. Also very disappointing was the Mango juice which I always order. It was not the usual thick Sir Mango juice. Your prices are high for this poor experience. We will be warning others not to come there. Such a pity because when Ocean Basket was in the upstairs venue the food, views and and service was excellent. How sad that the move stuffed everything up!

Excellent service and top quality food. Lunch was a sea food splatter for two with top up prawns. It's was excellent choice. Very tasty and enough for both of us. Will recommend. Also friendly staff.

We had 2nd thoughts of spending the evening at Ocean Basket... But wowww!!! It was really an amazing, awesome evening. Our waiter David looked after us very well. Sitting outside was also wonderful as it was a great evening. The prawns were mouthwatering.. Will be back, that's for sure!!!

Service was good. Did not wait too long for orders, even though it was busy. Amazing how the same menu's at different outlets can taste so different. My Sole was quite dry and rather tasteless. The platter for one wasn't very inspiring either. What I did notice was that the total bill for the 4 of us was substantially higher than recently

We had lunch at the OB in Hermanus on 12 December 2020. Waiter was friendly but service was super slow and the food was very average (we ordered the standard fish & chips with rice). The rice wasn’t properly cooked and cold and We won’t rush back. There are better seafood offerings in Hermanus.

Due to lockdown followed by a change of premises, we had not visited Ocean Basket for quite some time and we were pleased to see that it had re-opened in a different location. Although the views available from the previous premises were missing here, the food was of the same excellent quality as was also the service. Welcome back OB!

We have eaten at this establishment many times over the years and once again we enjoyed a very nice meal (oysters, halloumi, & an excellent platter) provided with friendly and efficient service at a very reasonable price.

Very good fast food. You can get good food in good price. They have big choice of different see food.

The Ocean Basket never disappoints. A visit to Hermanus is incomplete without a meal here. I'll be back!
