Mythos - Mall of the South

Excellent food, friendly staff. Conveniently situated at upper level of The Mall of the South. Nice outside seating area. Their weekly lunch time specials is real value for money.

Chicken was a bit dry but not bad. Coffee was really nice. Prawn and squid heads really not that good blunt taste. Customer next to me complained about a dry overcooked steak

Returned to this wonderful place as I enjoyed it so much last year.It’s not changed still does really delicious food. The high standard of service is second to none.As a mall restaurant this is excellent really love sitting outside.

We booked tables for 30 people in December for a birthday celebration. The manager was extremely helpful in helping us choose a menu suitable for a large group.The food was out of this world. Everybody kept raving about it. The portions were extremely generous. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was so relaxed.

Glad we revisited this restaurant. This time we took advantage of specials to have a late lunch. Exceptionally well priced but without sacrificing quality. We shared chicken kebabs as a starter followed by the rump steak specials. Service was good from both waiters and management. Comprehensive wine list but disappointed that there was little budget selection. Only gripe I have is that it would have been nice to sit outside but that is reserved for smokers meaning non smokers are accommodated indoors albeit on a covered terrace.

As we needed Restaurants in the South of Johannesburg, we were thrilled when Mall of the South opened doors nearby. I decided to surprise my husband with a meal at Mythos on Christimas Day. Service was friendly, but at one point I found it unnecessary that the Waitress informed me that she's working Christmas day and needed an extra tip, more so as I took 2 gifts with me, with the thinking that it was Christmas day and that I would like to hand our waiter/waitress something unexpected. Nevertheless, the cocktails can be recommended. They have a good wine list, although a bit on the expensive price with a Springfield wine @ R330 a bit much for a local wine. As it was Christmas I opted to overlook this. Starters of Haloumi Meze and Feta parcel are both recommended dishes. They arrived warm. My husband ordered Kleftiko, at R190-00 one would expect a generous helping of lamb. The contrary unfortunately. I ordered Moussaka meat and what a huge disappointment it was when it arrived at such a speed that I was sure it would be cold. My assumption rang true, as the centre was still ice cold from the fridge and the potato topping ice cold too. This was pointed out to the waitress, who left me the salad to eat, whilst my husband ate his Kleftiko (at my will, as I didnt want his meal to get cold). One would assume that the Moussaka would return warm, with a small salad as ordered, yet it arrived on the plate, warmed in the microwave with no salad. Surely, if the kitchen gets a complaint that a patron isn't happy with an ice cold meal, that jack the service up and ensure they go the extra mile. Garnish would've been welcomed. By this time I'd lost my appetite. I opted not to order desert and asked for my meal to be packed for take away. Overall, be aware that this is not a cheap Restaurant and yes I can understand that there's rent to be paid at Malls, but R22 for a water isn't cheap, neither is an ice cold Moussaka at R105. I requested to see the Manager, who apologized and offered an Irish coffee and desert. I accepted the kind gesture and opted for a baklava cheese cake (highly recommended) and a cappucino. He too received a small thank you Xmas gift (as the waitress did), as this was my original thinking, taking into consideration that they too have family to spend Christmas with. I therefor cannot bad mouth a Restaurant as my 1st experience wasn't up to scratch, but will rather return and do another Review. So watch, this space!

We always love to visit Mythos restaurant as we love the Greek food which is well prepared and fresh. Amazing service and delicious desserts. We love it and please keep up the good work.

Coming to Mythos is like coming home. The staff are super friendly and attentive. We are always welcome like family and the food is yummy. Cold beer on tap. Beautiful cocktails.

Mythos is a rooftop restaurant with scenic views. I had the fillet on the bone and it was well prepared. Rest of the family had sardines, prawns,line fish and we socialized over a bottle of 2014 Meerlust. Our waitress was super in her service. If you would like to spend a relaxed day with family, friends or your partner Mythos MOS is definitely worth your try.
