Miller's Thumb

I have been going to this restaurant since 2002. Whenever I am in Cape Town I ensure that there is one dinner at Millers Thumb. Jane is probably one of the most charismatic and welcoming hosts you can meet. The food is excellent and there is a fantastic variety of dishes... STRONG BUY!

The service and food at Millers is always amazing! It's a local that is not a secret anymore and we are always surprised when it is not full. I am a vegetarian and, being owner run, they make amazing adaptations of the menu for me! My husband loves the steak or Jambalaya (yes, we know they are known for their fish!) :) I noticed one comment about Covid protocols not being adhered to, but we did not have that experience at all!

We googled best seafood restaurants in CPT and hadn't been to this venue before. The vibe was friendly and the food pleasant. A good selection of meals to choose from and everyone was happy with their meals. Good friendly service from waitress and good personal interaction from a lady who appeared to be the owner. I would definitely go again but I didnt see this as a speciality Seafood restaurant. Prices were perhaps a little higher than average, but not excessive and happy to support our restaurants during lockdown.

We have been coming here for years and the standard of the food has always been good, the service always friendly. The same goes for this time round. What I find absolutely unacceptable, is that Jane did not wear a mask while serving any of the tables, including ours!! We all have a responsibility to ourselves and to others and behavior like that is not something I would accept from a host who is meant to be looking after my wellbeing. This is also a very bad role model to the other staff. Sorry for having to be so direct!

My wife and I have visited Millers Thumb many times over the past 25 years. The most stunning fish meals ever, but other items on menu are equally brilliant experiences. Top that with the amazing hospitality of both Jane and Solly as well as their staff and you will have the best dining out experience that you could wish for.

Chads birthday feast of note! This is what we ate: Starters: Greek mussels, garlic bruschetta and chilli calamari. Mains: Cajun angel fish, seafood pasta, rump bordelaise, Cajun prawns with remoulade sauce and dirty rice... salad with green goddess dressing.Dessert: chocolate pecan nut pie, cheesecake and blue cheese ice cream with poached pears. Best meal ever, it was an insane evening hosted by the most awesome Jane and Chef Solly????Best seafood restaraunt in Cape Town. Thank you Miller's Thumb Restaurant

I have not been to Millers Thumb for about 12 years and what a great surprise still excellent food excellent service great ambience but maybe a little pricey. As I was not paying wasn't my problem We all had starters and everyone raved about them I had the cajun rump it was superb the other 3 people had fish and they raved at the kob, dorado and yellow tail. We had a very nice bottle white wine recommended by the waitress.Defintely will go back was very impressed!! Thank you and Well done to management and staff

The fun and funky atmosphere is laid back and casual. The speciality here is fish which is perfectly cooked and tastes as fresh as can be. Prices are on the high-end of the moderate range and you can taste the quality in every bite. South African food can be hearty and heavy but dinner here leaves you feeling light but still highly satisfied. Service is excellent and the manageress clearly runs a tight ship. Make sure you book ahead; this place is very popular.
