“Improved premises coupled with bumped up menu, and tasty food”
We had decided to dine at Masala again, after a while (at least a year). When we arrived, we found that they had moved. However, this was only to the bigger premises next door. The seating capacity has increased by about 25%, inside and on the patio. Even the toilet has grown a bit, you don't have to squeeze in behind the door to close or open it. The managers welcomed us and also came over to check if all was ok. Our waiter was well informed of the dishes and also on the pungency, and could advise us accordingly. He was very attentive, and got our orders spot on. Service was good, and while you wait for your order, the aromas that come wafting through heighten your expectancy of your food to come. And the food that was served was good. The menu has been bumped up quite a bit and includes a number of South Indian dishes. There is a much larger variety on the menu now. Although the prices have increased a bit, we found that the servings had a fairly generous amount of the items for the dish ordered (I also like lots of gravy), eg. the paneer was sufficient, and even the pieces of chicken and mutton. Our table had ordered starters of samoosas, vada and idli. Our mains included paneer dosa, malai kofta, paneer tikka masala, chicken curry and lamb curry, with butter naan, tandoori roti and latcha paratha. All items were satisfying, aromatic and tasty. The chicken and lamb were well cooked and soft. Although the naan was good, it lacked that tandoori aroma, of a bit of smokiness. Gulab jamum tasted and felt as if it was freshly made. The masala tea was up to our expectancy. We had a pleasant dining evening. We would not hesitate to dine here again, and do recommend a visit to Masala.
