LM in the East

We went there twice after the new owners took over and changed the menu. ( And the prices!) Both times the restaurant was empty, on Friday nights. My favorites are gone. I asked the manager, who was really not very friendly, why they changed the menu and his answer was that they wanted to make it more Portuguese. I have known this restaurant since the Church street days - you don't change a winning recipe. We had our favorite seats, the waiters knew we were coming often, what a pity that it is not worth a visit anymore.

I had the Filleto Al Tegomina which was cooked to perfection. Hands down the best fillet I have ever tasted. The only problem was when the sizzling hot skillet arrived I wasn't offered a cloth of some sort to cover my clothes and was spattered full of pan juices and oil. The small paper serviette was not enough to avoid this. But other than that good service, great oysters and an enjoyable experience

I was keen to try the food at LM in the East as it has been in the area for a long time. I attended a function and was very disappointed. The service was not unfriendly but there was no management present and too few waiters helping such a large table. None of the dishes were attractively presented at all. The quality of food seemed to vary. My fish was large but very dry and tasteless. The waiters were clearly too busy so no drink refills were offered and dirty plates remained in the table for ages. Maybe the experience would have been different with a smaller group but unfortunately I wouldn’t return to find out.

ate here a couple of weeks back. The oysters, calamari and the prawns were all spot on. Not as busy as usual and it was hard to judge the service, but the food, the wine and the overall experience was very good

While I like Portuguese food, this venue has been very disappointing the the last two visits. When you order sole and it it is still jelly-like near the bone, your appetite goes out the window. The bar is still well attended, but the food seems to be playing second fiddle...what a shame!

Cosy, Very quiet area in the East. Large portion of food. Not to expensive.Good service and taste food.

We went to LM in the East for dinner with friends on a regular basis. We are always greeted warmly. The waiters are attentive and helpful. They even spoke Afrikaans to us. We tried several dishes and I must say we never regret. The food is delicious.

Went for a family lunch. The welcoming reception was good. The service was a bit slow and the food took very long to come. Our one dish has a piece of plastic in it and was reported to the manager. He resolved the issue and gave us a discount. The expectations of the restaurant are not as great as it’s made out to be.

5 of us went there for dinner on a Saturday night. Expected to be like the original LM in Pretoria West - the chicken livers burnt like crazy - no taste whatsoever. I had the calamari & kingklip. Queen prawns as extra - prawns were dry! The kingklip was overcooked and was like cardboard - had a stale/frozen fish tasted. Our server didn't let us know that the Norwegian salmon and the banana dessert were not available! When I saw someone ordering the fried banana and inquired, he said 'oh it just got back on the menu!' Service was slow and he didn't deserve the tip we left him!! Waaaay overpriced, subpar food and not worth the trip

While staying in Pretoria for a few days, friends invited us to LM in the East for dinner.We were very happily surprised with the good food and the very efficient and friendly service.Seems to be very popular as it was full on a weekday.Will definitely return.
