Klipheuwel Padstal & Salty River Beerhouse

The worst service I have ever had. When we first arrived the lady at the bar gave us a very crooked look and didn't even ask if she can help us to be seated. We've waited several minutes for a waiter and decided to get a table on our own. We the eventually ordered coffee. While waiting almost 20minutes for our coffee several people came in and had to call the staff from the kitchen to help them. Meanwhile in the kitchen the staff was busy videocalling friends and listening to voicenotes and was bursting out in laughter very loudly, until one staff member silinced them. The one waiter cleaned a table that ordered coffee. As she was walking she spilled some of the coffee and in our hour and 55 minutes that we were there no one cleaned it and just left it on the floor next to our table. We also saw that other clients was sending their food back to the kitchen, untouched and left the restaurant. We've waited almost an hour for our food and it's was only put on the table very roughly and the waiter again disappeared into the kitchen, joining the party in the kitchen. The so called party then moved to the bar area and the staff was still videocalling and chatting about their personal matters in front of the clients. Some staff members even cursed loudly in the restaurant. I will not recommend the Klipheuwel Trading Post to anyone!

I am a huge fan of any place that has a laid-back atmosfeer and great food. And the prices are so affordable. Truthfully its one of the best places I have been to in my life.

Not sure where these other reviewers went, but we are locals and have never had anything but friendly service and wholesome food at an excellent price at this establishment. In fact we are about to go there for their delicious breakfast with great value for money. Will always recommend.

I was asked what I wanted to drink as soon as I sat down, and I ordered tea. A waiter brought it to me, but didn't ask if I wanted anything to eat? I waited for someone to come back and ask me what I wanted to eat, but no one came. Eventually I called a waitress, and ordered a scone. after 10 minutes, I was brought a plate with butter and jam portions. If this is a farm stall, then surely they should have their own homemade jam, and not portions? After another 10 minutes, I was brought a scone, which was more like a piece of cake than a scone

Lovely country type restaurant with outside tables under big trees and canvas stretch tents. Friendly staff, but food really average. Cappuccino was terrible, and hake and chips I ordered poorly presented and very oily. A real pity.

We stopped here for lunch on our way to Cape Town. Inside and outside seating available ( preferred during the second covid wave). Good service and a very nice lunch ( we had the 4x4 basket). Kids was kept busy in the playarea ( direct view from all outside tables) the whole time. Overall a very pleasant experience, will definitely make this a stop again in the future.

Their speciality is definitely pizza, don't bother with the other things on the menu. We eat pizza a lot and I can honestly say their pizza is above average! Not the best, but good. Very large in size, thin, crispy and wood fired with a nice variety of ingredients to choose from. The service and beverage variety, not so much..

Please drive through to Groot Brak and skip this place. Rude, bad service and extremely bad food. Can't even call it food. Vegetarians..... run away very fast

Normally I love browsing in farm stalls and on our travels, I've been to a fair few, but this one I found to be massively overpriced. Granted, there are interesting and unusual items, such as the old fashioned linen "koffiesakkies", but as for the rest... what a disappointment! R75.00 for a pack of homemade biscuits, R90 for a small bottle of olives... Although we visited in what technically could still be called lunch hour, there was only one couple having a meal. There is a pleasant, vine covered stoep, where meals can be enjoyed, but the place, apart from the diners and us, was deserted. No sign of any farm animals either... not even the llamas - the lady llama was pregnant and needed to have rest before becoming a mum! There was not much else to see or do for that matter... it was a relief not to have our grandchildren with us!

We just stopped to look for a cooldrink then decided to stay for a small bite. The portions were excellent and enormous! Staff very friendly, and prices very reasonable, compared to Knysna where we live!
