Joostenberg Bistro

We visited for Saturday lunch. The bistro was very busy, so unfortunately there was no opportunity to sit outside on the verandah. The menu was imaginative, with many items from which to choose.Service was prompt and very obliging, and the food was good and tasty.

After a missable experience at lunch at Val du Charon we arrived at Joostenberg Bistro for a coffee, cake a cheer up. What a wonderful idea. We walked thro this wonderful butchery/deli and then were ushered into a stone floored cafe with wooden tables and chairs. Beautifully laid out gardens and views ....so relaxing. Brilliant service, beautifully clean and the pastries and desserts were fresh and deliciously stunning..,,,,,,we definitely will come back here for lunch .All of us bought meat, spices, bread, veg and coconut pudding to take home YumRecommend a visit.......you will go back

We went for a brunch and were pleasantly surprised! The choices were plenty and when we asked about something off menu it was served with a smile! The problem here is that there are too many choices!

We stopped here for a quick breakfast as we were leaving Stellenbosch for CT and it was tasty, well-priced with delicious homemade iced-tea and good service. There were kiddies options as well, which always makes traveling with a child easier. The shop has some nice goodies, and I always enjoy browsing the butchery/bakery area. COVID protocols were also observed and there are loads of outdoor tables, which is the way to go in these times.

A unplanned stop ended in a gourmet eating experience- xcellent service and cured meat and cheese platter delicous and affordable pricing

I called up to book and asked if there was a spot that I and my elderly father could play scrabble after lunch. They said we could have a corner table and could stay as long as we needed. On arrival I was greeted by name before I could say a word, even though it was busy. The team member deduced from my bag that we were the scrabble players! We had delicious meal and relaxed afternoon with friendly service. Good value too, especially compared with some of the other places in the region. Will return.

Sort of stumbled on this Bistro needing a late lunch on Saturday. Helpful staff confirmed kitchen open till 4pm so we had enough time after 2.Pleasant surprise when we got there, every dish we had was really good, the house Shiraz excellent, with great service despite Covid-rules.The Springbok shanks were really good! Had to ask more bread to wipe the plate clean!So our ultimate complement, we'll go out of our way and drive here for a meal.Oh and make time to shop at the deli/butchery next door!

Delightful country atmosphere; spacious grounds with beautiful treed lawns. When the weather's fine, outdoor tables are recommended. Although not extensive, good quality menu.

I enjoyed a delicious breakfast early on a Saturday morning. It can get quite busy, so it may be good to book in advance for breakfast or lunch which starts at 12h00. There is free parking outside and one enters through the deli. The menu of the bistro has a considerable amount of meat on it, so great if you love meat. There are a few vegetarian options and I found the staff to be very accommodating offering a vegetarian quiche or watermelon salad as options. There are croissants, hot meals, muesli and yoghurt which were all great.The space is clean as well as the toilets. Staff are friendly and there is seating inside and outside. The bistro overlooks a beautiful picnic area where family and friends gather to lie under trees. After breakfast we spent some time in the gorgeous deli just attached. There are a range of gifts, produce such as rusk, honey, spices, fruit, meat, freshly baked bread, the most delicious milktart, dried flowers, cookbooks, and lots, lots more. Definitely worth a visit. Across the road is the Ludwig nursery which sells a large selection of beautiful roses. Will be back.

If you enjoy cold meats or want to try something completely different for breakfast, try the charcuterie, it's divine. Something you will have to travel far for. The pork rillettes is out of this world.
